First Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas This is the First Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas First United Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas was the first church established in this city.

It was founded in 1874 and after two years the first church was constructed in 1876, the centennial of the Declaration of Independence. In 1904, the second church building was erected on the corner of 4th and State Line Avenue. This church stood and the congregation grew till 1958. In 1958 the construction of the third and present building was begun. In 1971 through a generous gift by Ross Perot a

nd his family, the church was paid off and became debt free. Ross Perot was baptized in the church in 1939. Over the last several years, change in the demographics and relocation of the city center have resulted in many members moving to other congregations closer to their homes, but FUMC Texarkana, Texas remains a vital part of the local community, offering several programs of missional service.

What does it mean to be truly strong?

This Sunday, Pastor Greg continued our The Better Life series with a message on meekness from Matthew 5:5:
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

The world tells us to promote ourselves, fight for control, and make sure we're noticed. Jesus offers a different way. Meekness isn't weakness—it's strength surrendered to God.

When we stop trying to control everything, we find something better: peace, trust, and the promise of God's coming Kingdom

What a fabulous Family Fun Night at First Church! 🎬🍿

The kids absolutely loved The King of Kings and were captivated by the story of Jesus. Add in popcorn, yard games, gym fun, and an amazing crowd, and it made for a wonderful evening!
Seeing so many families together has us even more excited for our Scavenger Hunt Family Fun Night on June 24th.

We love helping kids stay connected, have fun, and grow in faith all summer long. ❤️

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." — Matthew 5:4

This Sunday, Pastor Greg reminded us that nothing is hidden from God. Like David in Psalm 51, we are called to come before Him with honest hearts, confess our sins, and experience His mercy and grace.

When we turn to God in repentance, we find the comfort, forgiveness, and restoration only He can give.

We’d love for you to join us this Sunday! Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM, followed by Worship at 10:30 AM.

chair, and invite a friend! Pizza, a popcorn bar, yard games, and King of Kings are all waiting for you.

☀️ And because summer is doing its thing, portions of the evening have been moved inside the gym so everyone can stay cool and comfortable.
