First Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas This is the First Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas First United Methodist Church of Texarkana, Texas was the first church established in this city.

It was founded in 1874 and after two years the first church was constructed in 1876, the centennial of the Declaration of Independence. In 1904, the second church building was erected on the corner of 4th and State Line Avenue. This church stood and the congregation grew till 1958. In 1958 the construction of the third and present building was begun. In 1971 through a generous gift by Ross Perot a

nd his family, the church was paid off and became debt free. Ross Perot was baptized in the church in 1939. Over the last several years, change in the demographics and relocation of the city center have resulted in many members moving to other congregations closer to their homes, but FUMC Texarkana, Texas remains a vital part of the local community, offering several programs of missional service.

Whether your schedule works better during the day or in the evening, we have two opportunities to gather, grow in God’s Word, and enjoy fellowship with other women at First Methodist!

✨ Our Evening Ladies Bible Study is continuing its study, Finding God in Your Everyday. If you haven’t joined us yet, it’s not too late to jump in! Come as you are and join us for the weeks ahead.

🌸 And we’re excited to announce that our Ladies Lunch Bible Study is coming back! Beginning Wednesday, September 23, we’ll meet at noon for lunch, fellowship, and a study through Colossians: Rooted & Built Up in Christ.

🎉 FMC YOUTH — IT’S FINALLY TIME!! 🎉

We’ve been waiting for this one! After a summer of exciting changes and a major renovation to the gym, regular Youth programming officially kicks off THIS WEEK for the first time this school year! 🙌💙

⏰ 5:30-7:00

🔥 Middle School kicks off Wednesday, September 16
🔥 High School kicks off Sunday, September 20

And the best part?! The newly remodeled gym is ALMOST DONE! 👀👏 We are so excited for our students to have a fresh new space to gather, have fun, build friendships, and grow in their faith together. We cannot wait for them to see it!

What a special Sunday at First Methodist! 🤍

Our children filled the sanctuary with a little extra noise for Noisy Offering Sunday, collecting change from the congregation in their galvanized buckets. 🪣🪙

We also had the joy of celebrating the baptism of Molly Jane Waters, daughter of Natalie and Bryan Waters. What a beautiful moment as our church family welcomed Molly Jane and promised to surround her with love, prayer, and faith as she grows. ✝️💧

We are so thankful for Sundays like these and for the blessing of watching the next generation grow in Christ. ❤️
