🐅 Meet the Assistant Principal – Derek Murphy 🧡 Wake Village Elementary is gaining a leader with deep roots in Tiger Nation! Please join us in welcoming Derek Murphy, who will serve as Assistant Principal at Wake Village Elementary.

A lifelong Texarkana resident, Texarkana ISD graduate, and second-generation educator, Mr. Murphy is proud to continue serving the community that helped shape him. This year, he will support grades 3–5 while also leading the campus' Math Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to strengthen instruction and student achievement.

For more than 20 years, Mr. Murphy has lived by one mission: building people. That purpose inspired him to become an educator, and now as a school leader, he is passionate about helping students, teachers, and fellow professionals grow and succeed.

As he begins this new chapter at Wake Village Elementary, Mr. Murphy is excited to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff while continuing to grow as a leader.

💬 His message to families:
"I want parents to know that, as educators, we truly have their students' best interests at heart. We are here to partner with you to maximize your child's educational experience."

📚 Fun Fact: Outside of school, Mr. Murphy is a published author! Over the past 10 years, he has written and published five books.
