Saint James Episcopal Church of Texarkana

Saint James Episcopal Church of Texarkana Welcome to St. James' Church- Texarkana, a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. St. James' Church is a parish church of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.

The mission of our church is to restore all people to God, and to each other, through sacramental worship and Christ-like living. The first parish meeting was held April 2, 1877. Citizens of all faiths contributed funds for the first church building, erected on property donated by the Texas and Pacific Railroad. A second edifice, built in 1893-94, was altered and enlarged in 1910 and 1926. James h

as established or supported at least seven other churches in this area. This parish pioneered in aid to the elderly and other community services. The parish started Hospice of Texarkana and Meals on Wheels as well as Randy Sams Outreach Shelter for the homeless, now all separate self governing community service Christian ministries.

Replacement of the air conditioning systems in the old education building (Kitchen, Library, Nursery, and the Community Development Center upstairs) began this morning.

Please excuse any associated mess and, if possible, avoid these areas as the work progresses over the next few days.

We'll let you know when it's cool for you to resume using these areas. (See what we did there?)

Thank you!

It was a great day at Saint James Episcopal Church of Texarkana yesterday as we celebrated the ordination of the Rev. Taylor Loy to the priesthood of God’s one, holy, catholic and apostolic church!

Congrats Fr. Taylor!

A special thanks to Bishop Price for making the journey for his first priestly ordination as Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, and to all the other visiting clergy who came to support Fr. Taylor.

O God, through your Son you have bestowed upon your
people the brightness of your light: Sanctify this new fire, and
grant that in this Paschal feast we may so burn with heavenly
desires, that with pure minds we may attain to the festival of
everlasting light; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
