In 2021 Annie F. started attending my HoNoMo zoom Bible studies. The Univ. of Maine student had first heard me onTikTok. She was a hard-hearted witchcraft practicing atheist who desperately needed the Gospel. Below is her story of redemptionand call to campus evangelism.
“I grew up an atheist. My whole family were atheists, and the only time that I went to church growing up was when one of my friends invited me, which was not very often. Christians were portrayed to me by my family as people who had been tricked into believing something that wasn’t true. I was taught that we know better than them and religion was something FOR ignorant people.
With no moral compass, when I first got to college, I fell really deep into the party scene, I was drinking multiple nights a week and smoking w**d and doing all kinds of drugs and having s*x with random men to try to fill the void that I felt in my soul. I got into an abusive relationship, and I was s*xually assaulted because I kept putting myself in dangerous situations due to being so depressed and hopeless.
At one low point I delved into witchcraft, and I started practicing idol worship of pagan “gods” because I was so bitter. My heart was so hard that my one motivation was, I didn’t want to be Christian. I blamed God for all the bad things that happened to me in my life and that was how I lived my life for the first three years of college.
One day I stumbled across one of your (Sister Cindy) videos on my Tik Tok. I remember being really confused about why that was showing up on my page, and wondering if you were actually Christian or if it was satire. I started watching more of your videos and your sermons that you posted and I came to the conclusion that you were so passionate about Jesus, that it had to be genuine. You said if I wanted to know more, I should read my Bible and go to your HoNoMo zoom Bible study.
Soon, I ordered myself a Bible on Amazon and I started reading that on my own because I was too scared to actually go to a Bible study. I promised myself that I was going to read it with an open mind and not try to disprove it. Eventually, I worked up the courage to go to your Bible study and God spoke to me when I heard the Gospel for the first time.
I knew that I wanted to follow God, but I had some things that were holding me back, and the largest one was this man that I was seeing, and so I prayed to God, that if this man was not from Him, God would remove him from my life. The next day, the man blocked me for no reason. After this I decided that I wanted to dedicate my life to Jesus, and start living life with Him, and I wanted to be baptized, so I posted on Facebook and asked if anyone knew how I could get baptized. Eventually, my friend Kaila reached out to me and told me about Chi Alpha Campus Ministry. I started going to Bible study with Chi Alpha and I got invited on a weekend retreat, where the pastor told me that Jesus would have died even if it was just for me, and I finally realized how much God loves me. That day I dedicated my life to the Lord and was baptized!
This fall I will be working full time as a Missionary Intern with a Chi Alpha. I will be serving at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. After my internship I plan to continue working as a campus missionary long term, continuing my passion for offering lost college students, like I once was, reconciliation through our Lord Jesus Christ!”
