A Prayer for the New School Year

God of wisdom and hope,

Walk with every student, teacher, staff member, and family beginning a new school year.

Bless those who are excited and those who are anxious; those who feel confident and those still searching for where they belong. May our schools be places where every person is welcomed, every difference is respected, and no one is forgotten.

Give educators patience and courage. Protect our children from violence, cruelty, prejudice, and exclusion. Teach all of us to notice the student who is lonely, the family who is struggling, and the neighbor whose needs are too easily overlooked.

May education form not only intelligent minds, but compassionate hearts—people willing to seek truth, defend human dignity, stand with the vulnerable, and work for a more just and peaceful world.

Send us into this new year with curiosity, kindness, courage, and hope.

Amen.
