Juana “Janie” (Chavez) Donoso, age 88, of Temple passed from this life during the early morning hours of Thursday, August 22, 2024, at TLC East Nursing and Rehabilitation. Janie was born on August 11, 1936, in Milam County to her parents Juan and Fuastina (Rocha) Chavez.
She moved to the Temple area in 1969 from Cameron worked at ER Carpenter on the assemble line for many years. Juana met the love of her life Raymond Donoso in Bell County, and they were married on April 2, 1980. They shared many happy years together making memories to cherish throughout all their time together until his passing.
Juana was affiliated with the Baptist church and was devoted to her religion; it was said that any time she would pray and asked for the Lord’s help her prayers always seemed to get answered. Those who knew her were always treated with kindness and love because she was a beautiful person inside and out, she had a lovely soul and personality. Juana loved her family she was known by her nickname “Queen Bee”. She was an avid arts and crafts person who loved earrings. She also had a wonderful collection of swans that she was very proud of. Juana was known for her patience and calm demeanor; it was probably because of all her years of living here that enabled her to be such a graceful and knowledgeable person. It will be hard for all the people whose lives she touched, and memories of the times spent in her company will forever be cherished. Juana’s legacy to the community and family will go on and it was a blessing from the heavens above to share one of their own for her time here among us.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Donoso, daughter Yolanda Zyburt, sisters Juliana Garcia and Ramona Martinez, and brothers Pablo Chavez, Guadalupe Chavez, Steve Chavez, Juan Chavez, Tony Carrillo, and Matilte Chavez Jr.
Janie leaves behind for all to cherish her loving memory her daughter Janie Landry and husband Ed of Camden AR, sons Jesse Duarte of Morgans Point Resort, and Ruben Duarte and wife Lindy of Bertram, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Janie also leaves behind her sisters Mary Helen Fest, Eva Kuhn, Teresa Sidon, Paula Burrows, Sandy Ruiz, Elva Ramirez, Minnie Vasquez, and Helen Garcia, as well as one brother Jose Chavez.
A funeral service for Janie will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10 o’clock a.m. with Pastor Mendoza officiating. The family will be accepting visitors one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Janie will be buried in Greathouse Cemetery.
