Post showing the track of the tornado. White dot near the intersection of Seaton Rd and Stringtown Rd is the appropriate location of Dyess' Family Cemetery, red is Dyess Grove Church and Cemetery.

As posted earlier: the sign is damaged. It'll probably be a few weeks to get it up again. There's several limbs needing to be bucked and hauled off, but that's the most of it. Dyess Grove Church took a hit, and the back wall is off. The headstone of Abraham Baggett, a common ancestor to the Dyess', toppled over. Many of their headstones toppled over.

Cemetery is ok: sign over the gate is damaged, and there's trees down: but no headstones damaged. Pictures later today.

Two weeks ago the area was rocked by storms: unfortunately Donohoe Cemetery, about 21 miles to the south west of Dyess Grove just outside Davilla, was hit by a tornado. Our friend Keith went out today to document the damage, and members of the Dyess Family Cemetery Association will be working with the Bell County Historical Commission and the Bell County Sheriff's work release detail to repair the damage.

In this post about Red Ranger you can see the location of Dyess Family Cemetery in the upper left section. I'm assuming the small square across Stringtown Rd is the Dyess homestead.

Red Ranger is still on the 1936 Road Map of Bell County Texas

I will post this publicly and most likely pin it to the top. I've invested much time into the cemetery: both physically, mentally, and emotionally. Anything I post or tie into, both here and on other platforms, are well researched and as factual as I can provide. I am however human, and we all make mistakes. If I make one please let me know, provide the evidence, and I'll gladly change it. I will *not*, however be bullied and intimidated. I am a reasonable person: unless you try some silly nonsense like meddling with the online documentation of the residents of our lovely family cemetery. Adding graves of people that don't exist. Nasty and non relevant comments in a place meant to show respect and condolences. If the person doing this happens to see this (and I don't doubt that they will), I encourage you to remove these comments, provide the requested documentation, and we will be square.

A few weeks back the work to repair and level the headstones was completed. Unfortunately not all the headstones were leveled, but the most at risk were. This work was paid for with a grant from the Bell County Historical Commission, and from donations made to the Dyess Family Cemetery Association.

I'm reposting this today as it's the anniversary of the Battle of Franklin. It's a pivotal moment in the war, as it is a pyretic victory and sets the stage for the Battle of Nashville a few weeks later; which breaks the back of The Army of Tennessee and essentially ends the war in the West.
