Dear Family of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church,
I hope this year is going well for you and you are staying safe! It is hard to believe that with Christmas just barely in our rearview mirror, Lent is right in front of us. Ash Wednesday is on February 17th. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you what will be happening at ASLC and why.
First, I am happy to share with you that we will be having Daily Devotions again this Lenten series that will go along with our Sunday Sermon Series: “Sharing a Meal with Jesus.” We will be handing them out at church on February 21st. If you would like to participate with us in our daily devotions but are worshiping online, please just call the office and we will be happy to mail a copy to you.
Second, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and ALL mid-week Lenten services will be streamed services ONLY. We want to assure that we have in person worship for Sunday mornings. We have our best chances of having services on Sunday mornings with no midweek in person services.
We WILL BE HAVING THE IMPOSITION of ASHES on Ash Wednesday! We will just be doing it from our own home. Instructions will be given at 7PM on Ash Wednesday during our online service on how to do this. What you need to know, however, is that you can pick up the ashes on Sunday mornings after church or call the church office to arrange to pick up the ashes during the week.
I pray that you will have a Holy Spirit filled Lenten Season, that it will be a time of self-reflection all the while keeping your eyes on the cross!
In Christ,
Pastor Gary P. Lissy
