Am I increasingly seeing Jesus?

This was our challenge in service yesterday- the question of if we are growing more spiritually blind or seeing Jesus more clearly? This week let’s think about what limits we’ve placed on God, where we’ve boxed Him out, and invite Him to help us see more clearly to fill us with fresh faith.

“Stories invite us to discover who we are.”

This Sunday, Pastor Jason shared with us the story of the man who was let down through the roof by his friends to the feet of Jesus, and he asked us to identify who we were in the story. Sometimes we’re the Pharisees- close to Jesus in proximity but far spiritually; sometimes we’re the friends- taking steps of courage to bring people to Jesus; but often, Jason pointed out, we are the man on the mat- needing to be vulnerable before Jesus and receiving deeper healing than we expect.

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” Romans 15:1-3

This Sunday we talked about living in unity, not letting non-gospel issues divide us from other believers. We might hold different opinions on things, and that’s okay, but we are all united by the blood of Christ. Pastor Aaron mentioned these verses from Romans 15 to show how sometimes being a Christian looks like laying aside our freedoms and preferences to build others up in faith. We can leave space to disagree with others and let our priority remain loving one another well.

Where are you going to show up?

This was the question posed at the end of our message on Sunday when we talked about James 2 and faith necessitating action. As we walk in faith, we are called to surrender and obey as Christ’s followers. So where are you putting your faith into action this week?

“It’s hard to argue with a transformed life.”

This past Sunday we took time to look at the story of the woman at the well. At the beginning of the story she comes to the well in the middle of the day to avoid people, but after encountering Jesus she leaves her water jar and goes straight to the crowds to tell people about Him.

We are loving this series in the gospel of John where we get to see how when people meet Jesus, they are transformed. We hope that you would take time this week to meet with Jesus and let Him so transforming work in you too.
