We have had an incredible start to Holy Week! Thank you to everyone who helped make space for us to soak in the teachings of Jesus on his journey to the cross, and set a grand table to share the last supper with Jesus. We pray that you have been blessed through these experiences and we anticipate more to come this weekend!
Make plans to join us for our Good Friday service on Friday at 6:00 pm. We will have a special activity available for all children during the service to help them also reflect on Jesus’s death.
Then set aside time to spend time alone with God this Saturday at the Holy Saturday Silent Retreat. A Silent Retreat is any amount of time that is set aside to limit the distractions and noise of life in order to spend time with God. The goal is to quiet our bodies, minds, and hearts in order to turn our full attention to being in God’s presence. This time spent is essential to deepening our connection to God, practicing listening for God’s voice, and inviting God to transform our souls. On Holy Saturday, this practice also allows us to spend the day mirroring Jesus’ followers as they mourned his death and wrestled with hope in the space between death and resurrection.
The Education Building and grounds will be prepared with multiple spaces for you to rest in God’s presence. You are welcome to come for any amount of time between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks will be provided. A guide will be available with questions, spiritual practices, scripture, and reflections to help prompt your time with God. If this is your first silent retreat, we encourage you to set aside 1 to 3 hours.
Please note that we will worship at 9:00 a.m on Sunday instead of our normal gathering time of 10:00 a.m. This change is to make sure we beat the heat! We will be under shaded canopies and have evaporative coolers to make sure everyone is comfortable on Sunday. Come celebrate with us! Learn more at tempechurch.org/easter. (Link in Bio)
