Oomph, I find this so comforting, because the Bible never hid the mess. People doubted. Ran. Failed. Fell apart. Made terrible choices and had moments where their faith looked anything but impressive.

And still, God stayed.

Goodness, that changes how I read my own messy story too.

“Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” -Micah 7:8

A lighthouse stands as a solid fixture against the winds of change and the storms that may be blowing all around.

It is a guiding light. It is a shelter.

It stands as a beacon, firm and unmovable.

What a perfect metaphor for our faith in Jesus!

He is our foundation and our faith in Him is what gives us strength.

I think we sometimes think of worship in terms of what it does for us…

especially if we like the music,
we like the style…

Worship makes us feel good.

I personally believe that God intended for that to be the case when he invented and initiated worship. He knows our spirits need to worship Him.

But we should remember that in truth, real worship is meant FOR Him -

- to seek Him out
- sing His praises
- lift His name on high
- call out to Him in surrender and repentance

This is what I think Jesus meant when He said we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. 💛
