"I think one of the hardest things that we have to deal with right now is the dehumanization of so many people, all represented in that one little word, “illegal.” It’s a dehumanizing word, and it’s used to dehumanize. When you hear it used, you hear people using it in such a way as it seems that it’s almost like it’s a person’s name. That that person doesn’t have a name anymore, they didn’t have a family, they don’t have hopes, they don’t have dreams, they don’t have needs, that they’re no longer human, they’re simply illegal." - The Rt. Just as Jesus' disciples were likely scared and uncomfortable as he sent them out to minister to the world, the Episcopalians and others caring for the family members of detainees at are likewise outside their comfort zones. This we are all called to go where the sends us.

The Gardening Guild had a fun and successful Mulching Morning on Saturday! The weather could not have been better, cool and sunny, beating the heatwave (Sunday's hikers weren't so lucky!).

Besides spreading the mulch, they trimmed a few bushes, cleaned up the garden beds and began a short flagstone path by the side entrance. Not bad for a Saturday morning!

If you have a green thumb and would like to be a part of the effort to keep our grounds beautiful for parishioners and our neighbors to enjoy, please us know. Many hands make light work!

Our service of Morning Prayer for May 17th, with readings for the Seventh Sunday in Eastertide, may be seen at https://youtu.be/td5GNgGHmp0 . Jeffrey Kist officiated and Marsha Mackey, our Pastoral Care Associate and Senior Warden, preached. Gary Yacono led prayers.

The Third Sunday of the month is Youth Leadership Sunday so the lessons were read by some of our young scholars: Maya Ali, Noelle Woodley and Ta-Mia Small, who also served as acolyte.

In addition, we observed Armed Forces Sunday by presenting handmade quilts to some of our veterans.

Afterwards we enjoyed a. festive coffee hour provided by Milagros Torres in honor of her late sister Marie, whose 70th birthday would have been this week.
