New flags are flying! The cemetery received new flag poles and they look great!

Due to the high winds yesterday, numerous saddles and arrangements were displaced. Several were picked up and placed by a tree on the new side, close to the fence.

If there is anyway to tag or label your arrangements, we’ll do our best to return them to the correct markers.

Update on cemetery:

The cemetery has been mowed and the weedeating is ongoing. The weedeating is the biggest job. Keep in mind that every monument has to be weedeated around as well as the fences, hydrants and other non-mowable areas. We are considering spraying some areas to cut down on the time and labor involved. We need to look at anything we can do to keep the cost of mowing as low as possible.

I have been helping with the weedeating. We don’t have any set rules as to what can be left around grave sites. I would ask that each family keep in mind that everything left must be weedeated around. All types of keepsakes, remembrances and flowers stuck in the ground take time and are hard to not damage them. The cemetery tries hard to not cause damage but we cannot be responsible for unintentional damage.

In case you have wondered about the condition of the mowing at the cemetery here is an update.

Michael Morrison has mowed the cemetery for the past 20+ years and has done a great job. He has downsized his mowing operation and didn’t bid the job this year. We put the job out for bids and had originally awarded the bid out, but the person never showed up and we found another crew. We are confident they will get the cemetery back in good condition. The approximately 20” of rain in early June, while thankful for it, didn’t help!

We will continue to work hard to keep the cemetery in good condition. Thanks!
