Avant AME Church

Avant AME Church Avant AME Church is a community church located in the Avant Prairie Community. Avant A.M.E. Church began in 1884.

The church was rebuilt in 1947, and renovated in 2016. Avant AME Church also has a cemetery that began as a burial ground for the residents of Avant Prairie and Brewers Prairie before the people moved to Teague when the railroad arrived. It is an old cemetery that is a racial mixed cemetery. However, the majority of the graves are African Americans.
