🚨 ST. MARY’S FAMILIES & PARISHIONERS — WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🚨
Fall Festival is almost here, and we still have volunteer shifts that NEED to be filled!
We want to be direct: without enough volunteers, we simply will not be able to offer all of the games and activities we have planned for the children. These activities cannot run themselves, and we need our St. Mary’s families and parishioners to step up and help make them happen.
We know everyone is busy. We have jobs, kids, practices, games, commitments, and full calendars, but Fall Festival only works because we work together. Even giving us a couple of hours makes a HUGE difference!
If your children are coming to enjoy Fall Festival, please consider giving a little of your time to help make that fun possible for them and for all the children who attend.
And to those who have already signed up THANK YOU! We see you, we appreciate you, and we truly could not do this without you. 🙏
Fall Festival is one of the biggest weekends of the year for St. Mary’s, and its success depends on all of us.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — September 11, 2026 🇺🇸

25 Years Later We Remember. We Honor. We Pray.
Today marks 25 years since a day that forever changed our nation.
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors who never returned home.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, first responders, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help others. We remember the courage, compassion, and selflessness witnessed in some of our nation's darkest hours.
And today, we also remember all those who answered the call to serve our country in the years that followed. We pray for the members of our Armed Forces, past and present who have sacrificed so much to protect the freedoms we hold dear. We remember with gratitude those who gave their lives in service to our nation, and we pray for the families who continue to carry the weight of that loss.
We pray for our veterans, especially those who continue to carry wounds that cannot always be seen. We pray for our first responders who continue to serve our communities each day. And we pray for all those whose lives were forever changed by September 11.
Above all, we turn to God.
🙏 Heavenly Father,
On this solemn anniversary, we entrust to You all those who have been lost. Grant eternal rest to the departed and comfort to those who still grieve. Protect the men and women who continue to defend our country and those who place themselves in harm's way to protect others.
Bring peace where there is conflict, unity where there is division, hope where there is fear, and love where there is hatred. Help us never forget how precious life is and remind us that even in our darkest moments, Your light remains.
May we honor those we have lost not only with our words, but by living with greater kindness, courage, compassion, faith, and love for one another.

💙 Happy Birthday, Blessed Mother!
Today, September 8, we joyfully celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the birthday of our Blessed Mother and the patroness of our beloved St. Mary’s Parish. 🌹
Mary’s life was one of faith, humility, courage, and complete trust in God. Through her simple but powerful “yes,” she became the Mother of our Savior and an example to all of us of what it means to place our lives in God’s hands.
On her birthday, may we ask Mary to draw us closer to her Son and to help us follow Him with the same faithful heart she carried throughout her life.
Let us pray: 🙏🏻
Blessed Mother Mary, on this day we celebrate the gift of your life. Thank you for your loving “yes” to God and for always leading us closer to Jesus. Watch over our parish, our school, our families, and our community. Help us to trust God in times of joy, uncertainty, and change, and teach us to love as faithfully as you did. Amen.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day!

Today, we give thanks for the gift of work and for all those whose hands, hearts, and talents help strengthen our families, our parish, and our community.
As Catholics, we are reminded that our work, whether in the workplace, at home, in our schools, through volunteering, or in service to others can be an opportunity to glorify God and care for one another.
On this Labor Day, we pray for all workers, for those seeking employment, for those who are retired after many years of service, and for those whose work often goes unseen or unrecognized.
May God bless the work of our hands and help us always use our gifts in service to Him and to one another. ❤️

Here’s a little community history you may not know!
Meals on Wheels has been serving communities across our country for more than 50 years, helping older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected in their own homes. And we are blessed to have this important ministry of service right here in Christian County!
Through C.E.F.S. Meals on Wheels, nutritious meals are provided to seniors in Taylorville and surrounding Christian County communities. But Meals on Wheels is about so much more than a meal. For someone who is homebound, that knock on the door can also mean a friendly smile, a conversation, and someone checking in to make sure they are doing okay. ❤️
And here’s something you may not know about our own St. Mary’s!
Our very own Amanda Pickett helps coordinate St. Mary’s volunteers for Meals on Wheels! 🙌
There are SO many things our Parish Office staff does behind the scenes that many of us never even realize. They answer phones, help parishioners, organize ministries, solve problems, coordinate volunteers, and so much more.
We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️
Food insecurity is real, and it exists right here in our own communities. Sometimes the person who needs a little help is an older adult, a neighbor, a parishioner, or someone living alone whom we may never realize is struggling.
If you know someone who may benefit from Meals on Wheels, please reach out. And if you have a little time to give, consider volunteering! Amanda would love some helping hands with St. Mary’s Meals on Wheels volunteers.
A meal may seem like a small thing.
But a meal, a smile, a knock on the door, and knowing that someone cares can mean everything.
This is stewardship. This is community. This is loving our neighbor.
Thank you, Amanda, and thank you to ALL of our volunteers who quietly serve others without ever asking for recognition. We see you, and we are so grateful for you! 🙏

Okay, St. Mary’s family… we’re trying not to panic yet! 😂 But we could definitely use your help!
Right now, we have only 3 baskets donated for our Fall Festival Basket Raffle, and as you all know, this is always one of our most loved parts of the Fall Festival! ❤️
Now, we KNOW how our St. Mary’s family works… many of you are last-minute basket makers, and that is perfectly okay! 😂 But seeing only three baskets right now has the Fall Festival Committee getting just a tiny bit nervous!
We need YOU, the parishioners, families and community!
Your basket can be anything you’d like, big or small, homemade or purchased, themed or completely unique. Get together with your family, friends, coworkers, classroom, or group and have some fun creating one!
We simply ask you to give from the heart and help us make this year’s Basket Raffle another amazing success.
Every basket donated helps support St. Mary Church, St. Mary School, and our Fall Festival. 💙
So, to all of you who have been thinking, “Oh, I still have plenty of time…” this is your loving little reminder from your Fall Festival Committee!
Let’s start filling up that basket room!
