Thank you for support Little Union Cemetery this Memorial Day.
It is the privilege of every American to honor the memory of those who have paid the supreme sacrifice to keep our nation free and our citizens protected. They heard the call and responded with due diligence. We truly are a nation blessed!
Therefore, we know their memorials are a care and concern for you. Your loved one's final resting place is important to us as well. We appreciate the ministry of overseeing the landscaping and care of the cemetery.
Therefore, we wish to pass on this up-date on the cemetery.
Please note that the cemetery is not a perpetual care cemetery. The graves purchased are the personal property of the resident’s family. All maintenance and repair of graves is the resident’s family responsibility.
Little Union Baptist church has no jurisdiction over individual graves.
Most small local cemeteries are not self-supported. Neither is Little Union Cemetery. As it stands now, the Church cares for the landscaping, not plot maintenance (mowing only) of the cemetery from its general tithes and offerings. The average yearly fee for mowing, clean-up, and landscaping on the cemetery averages around $5000.00 per year. Average income to the cemetery fund per year totals less than a $1000.00.
The church will continue to support the cemetery if possible. But help is needed for the future. As prices continue to rise, costs are increasing. Financial support must increase. It is a concern that the cemetery's mowing and landscaping may suffer.
Please, rest assured any donation you make today or in the future will go directly to the landscaping of the cemetery. Receipts for donations can be issued to help track your giving and for tax purposes.
Please consider how you can help keep the cemetery looking the very best we possibly can. Please make any donations to the cemetery to Little Union Baptist Church and memo it to Cemetery or Cemetery Fund.
