ALRASOOL ISLAMIC CENTER (AIC) was founded in 1998 by a few Shia Muslims with a small room space in the heart of Salt Lake City. In the year 2002, Utah became a hub for oppo
rtunities, and people started moving to Utah, especially to Salt Lake City for education, business, and career opportunities. In 2008 as the Shia Muslim population grew, the AIC Executive Committee decided to buy a bigger facility to fulfill daily Shia Muslim religious and social activities. Since 2008 AIC has been an association of Shia Muslims who serve more than five thousand multi-ethnic Muslims and non-Muslim communities living around the greater Salt Lake City area. AIC is a nonprofit Utah organization and has been designed for 501(c)(3) religious non-profit organizations by the Internal Revenue Service. The AIC is governed by a Constitution and an elected Executive Council. Current members are:

· Prayers on Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Zodha.
· Recitation of ‘Dua Kumail and Ziarat Warsa’ on every Thursday evening.
· Observance of the rituals during the sacred month of Ramadan
· Organizing speeches and lectures by nationally and internationally known
Islamic religious scholars.
· Observance of the birthdays and martyrdom of Ahlulbait AS.
· Services for birth, death, and marriage rites and rituals for the community
members
· Sunday School for currently about eighty children with the curriculum consisting
of Arabic, Quran,
Islamic History, and Issues of Islamic Jurisprudence Relevant and Applicable to
Children. Future Plans
· To contract with and support a qualified resident Alim who would guide the
Center and the
community particularly in religious matters
· To conduct a stable Sunday School with the guidance of the Alim
· To plan and conduct a program for youth including classes and activities such as
summer camp
· To establish official Friday prayers.
· To conduct ‘fiqh’ classes for men and women.
