If you heard a bunch of cheering going on last Wednesday it was because we had our first ever annual Taco Bell Olympics. We were stunned that Allie Moore ate 13 tacos, out eating every other person in youth. It was a night of victory for the girls as in the final Olympic challenge they out ate the guys in the Taco Relay challenge.

Hey everyone I wanted to let you know that we will be posting an excerpt of the monthly youth parent newsletter to share with the church as a whole the monthly student spotlight. This excerpt will be highlighting their personal testimony and how God has transformed their lives! Make sure to check your email for the full parent newsletter! In the meantime though, meet Makayla Williams, otherwise known as "Marty McFly." She's ambitious, the biggest goofball you'll ever meet, but most importantly she desires to grow in her faith! I have heard people talk about Makayla, but one of the most amazing things I heard a fellow youth say about Makayla is, "In all her goofiness she reminds me and pushes me closer to the love of Jesus" WOW, what an amazing compliment! Read what Makayla wrote when I asked her to write a little about her story! I pray it encourages you in your relationship with Christ!
"When I started youth I wasn’t in the word as much as I would’ve liked to be but after months coming I found who I truly was and what God has planned for me! It was a life changing experience and I learned a ton more about his word. Alex has also help me so much grow as a person and see things more clearly! God has helped me through tough times when I was struggling trying to find my identity. I’ve always struggled trying to stay in his word but when I started going to youth group more I’ve stayed in his word with the help of Alex and the other youth. I have started new habits of reading my Bible and doing my devotional everyday. He has been a really good mentor toward me and has always been their if I needed help or had any question. God has blessed me enough to have these good mentors and friends and people in my life!"

Thanks Makayla Lampton for today's post! "Are you with Jesus? Do you walk and live through Gods word? If you aren't with Jesus you aren't with God. Follow through, teach others, and learn Gods word so that you can be your true self with Him."

Proverbs 4:23 reads, "Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life. How many of you have heard the old saying you are what you eat? As odd as it sounds there is much truth to it. We become what we spend our time on. Our hearts is very susceptible and God knows this That's why He has commanded us to guard our heart. If we guard our hearts with the truth of God's word nothing will be able to take away the abundant life that God promises us.

In honor of juneteenth we would like to echo the statement of a great ministry... "I believe that seasons like this have a way of revealing, and refining, our character.
Many of us were, perhaps, tempted to believe that racism was a thing of the past in our country. We read in school about MLK Jr. and the racial equality movement from the 60s and learned how America had “fixed” this problem. The events of recent days and months—Ahmed Arbery gunned down while jogging, and George Floyd killed by police brutality to name the most public incidents—have forcibly brought back to our attention the reality that race still deeply divides our country. If only these were isolated examples. The injustices against the black community seem to go on and on. Our character, as a country, is still in deep need of refining.
We want to say clearly to all our black friends and family, that we stand with you. We grieve with you for the continued ways in which you suffer hurt, pain, and injustice in this land because of the color of your skin. We believe whole-heartedly in a good and loving God who made all people in His image. As co-image bearers, we are all equal in His sight. To know and follow our God is to love His creation and work for their good. Racism is wrong—not only as an offense to the person, but more significantly as an offense to the God who created each one of us on purpose and for a purpose."
Let's join together and pray for the nations.
