Today is the feast of St Teresa of Kolkata, patron saint of World Youth Day.

St. Teresa of Kolkata was given prestigious awards, one of which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 because of her humanitarian and holy acts.

Today is the feast of St Pope Gregory the Great, patron saint of teachers

Although he was politically assertive, Saint Pope Gregory also displayed compassion for the underprivileged. He provided food and clothing to the impoverished and defended the religious freedom of the Jewish people under his rule. After seeing Anglo-Saxon slaves for sale in the market of Rome, Gregory also became an ardent advocate for sending missionaries to England, serving as a missionary there himself for a time.
