Our community at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church Taylor is uniquely blessed to host an extraordinary day of faith and devotion. One week from today, on Friday, September 11, 2026, Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, Bishop Emeritus of Assisi, Italy, will visit our church. He brings with him the sacred relics of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare of Assisi, and the Pericardium Relic of St. Carlo Acutis.

This momentous visit coincides with the historic 800th anniversary of the transitus (passing) of St. Francis of Assisi. As this sacred tour moves through the United States, it has been met with an outpouring of profound love, deep reverence, and renewed spiritual grace. These images show the beauty of the faithful in the Archdiocese of Chicago and their response to this unique opportunity. Those who have gathered in the presence of these relics and received the Archbishop's blessings speak of a powerful experience of peace, comfort, and joy.... true reflections of the holy lives these saints lived.

We invite all the faithful to join us at St. Mary of the Assumption for this rare encounter with holiness:

Public Veneration: The sacred relics will be available for prayer and veneration in our church starting at 9:00 AM.

Solemn Mass: The day will culminate at 7:00 PM with a Solemn Mass celebrated by Archbishop Sorrentino, concelebrated by many priests from our own Diocese of Austin.

Please join us for this exceptional day of grace, and invite your family, friends, and neighbors to encounter the inspiring spirit of the Saints of Assisi.

As the Church celebrates the historic 800th anniversary of the Transitus of Saint Francis of Assisi (1226–2026), we are profoundly blessed to welcome Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino for a historic U.S. mission. This pilgrimage brings the sacred relics of Saint Francis, Saint Clare, and Saint Carlo Acutis directly to our communities. It offers a rare, prayerful opportunity of grace, healing, and public veneration during this year of Saint Francis.
Schedules for all Masses, public venerations, lectures, catechise, processions, and liturgical events are available online for each parish. https://friendsofassisi.org/
