What's happening this weekend at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
We will be having Sunday School at 10 Am. Our lesson is titled "Disobedience Leads To Defeat.:" The lesson will be taken from Joshua 7.
We will then move into a time for prayer.
Our song service will be led by Bro. Tom Peveler, Sis. Connie Peveler and Sis. Jackie McCoskey.
Our song service is a great time of praising God through song.
We will then move into the sermon time. We will continue looking at the sins of David and Bathsheba and how they compound their sin. We will be in II Samuel 11.
Don't forget our evening service at 5 PM. We will begin a lesson on "God Promises His Comfort."
Hope to see each of you at these services.

As we continue our study of David during the sermons on Sunday, we will be moving into the story of David, Bathsheba and Uriah. This is not one of the proudest times in King David's life.
I would encourage you to go ahead and read II Samuel 11 and 12.
Also read Psalm 51.
Even though David sinned, God still blessed him.

As always, there will be time for special music.
During the preaching hour, I will begin to talk about the sin of David and Bathsheba in II Samuel 11.
Looking forward to seeing you at these services.

How To Control Our Tongue’s
One of the biggest problems we have in today’s society is the unbridled words we say. We say words out loud, on social media or in emails that are not from a heart of love. Words are powerful. They can encourage or be very harmful. Here are 5 things we can do to control our tongues:
1. Commit your tongue to the Lord every day.
2. Pray you will be aware of words before you speak.
3. Relinquish your right to complain.
4. Ask for forgiveness for any unloving words or attitudes.
5. Commit to speaking words that will encourage, comfort, edify, and inspire.
Remember what Jesus says in Matthew 7: 12. “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”

Eyes
How are your eyes? Can you see clearly? Maybe your vision is dimmed because of an accident or some disease. In Matthew 6: 22-23, Jesus says when talking about the eyes, “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!” Solomon warns his son about having haughty eyes. These are eyes that appear to be arrogantly superior and disdainful. “Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.” (Proverbs 21: 4). Solomon also says, “The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures.” (Proverbs 30: 17). Our eyes should be focused on God and His Word. They should be focused on serving others. They should be focused on the work of the local New Testament Church. They should be focused at all times on doing the will of God. Are your eyes focused? When those with spiritual needs look in your eyes, what do they see?

Are You A Real Man?
Many times, as men, we allow someone else to take care of the responsibly God has appointed us. This may be a spouse, your pastor or a friend. But when it comes to being the spiritual leader of your house, you are told to do this. You are responsible to lead your family in prayer and bible study. You are to make sure your family is in church every service, just as you should be. You are to be the example to your spouse and children of what a real Christian should be. Not just at home but in all areas of life. As men, we should understand our position in relation to Christ and our position in the family. Paul writes in I Corinthians 11: 3, “But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” This should encourage us as men. Christ is our head. He will help us to be good leaders of our house. Open God’s Word to see how to be a real man. Following Christ and His examples will help us to be a better man.

What’s In A Name?
How important is your name? Or how important is your reputation? The Bible tells very clearly how important our name/reputation is. The Hebrew word for “name” means, “reputation, fame, glory.” Solomon tells his son, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” (Proverbs 22: 1). A good reputation is more important than money or even precious ointments. “A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth.” (Ecclesiastes 7:1). We should strive to make a good name for ourselves. In doing so we can be better witnesses for Christ. We should not give people the opportunity to gossip about us. With a good reputation, people will say “There is something different about you.” When people say this, it can give us the chance to tell them about Jesus. Some people do not care about having a good reputation. Solomon says about them, “The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot.” (Proverbs 10: 7). How is your name/reputation? Is it good or bad? I pray that it is good.

Are You Hiding From God?
The answer to the title of this devotional is “NO.” God knows all about you. He knows your habits, your thoughts and your words. He knows your location, your past, present and future. The reason God know all these things is because He is always with you. In Hebrews we find, “And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4: 13). We may be able to hide things from people but not from God. Luke writes, “For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” (Luke 8: 17). There are few other things that God knows about. Your DNA code, the number of your days and that you are a sinner. We should take comfort knowing God is omniscient (all knowing), omnipresent (in all places), and that he is with you. Allow God to manifest his love and power through you instead of trying to hide from Him.

Do not forget Wednesday Bible study this week.
We will be finishing up our study of "The Doctrine of Church Organization."
We will then start on "The Doctrine of Church Character and Policy."
These lessons come from Bro. Ben M. Bogard's "Fifty-Two Doctrine Lessons”
These lessons encourage us in the things we hold most dear as Missionary Baptists.
Hope to see you at 4 PM in the fellowship hall.
