May 31 - Trinity Sunday
Sermon title: “And That’s What Happened!”
Scripture: Genesis 1:1-31

Would you like to play a game? An old, but memorable movie used that catch phrase. The boy was playing a computer online but did not realize that THIS computer controlled the entire nuclear arsenal of the United States and the computer was playing for REAL!

Robert Oppenheimer was part of the team that developed the first nuclear explosion. He gave the site of this test the code name “Trinity” and after they witnesses the power of nuclear fission, he was quoted,
“We knew the world would not be the same. A few people
laughed; a few people cried. Most people were silent. I
remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad
Gita; Vishnu takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am
become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all
thought that, one way or another.”

Wouldn’t you rather celebrate “Trinity” as the creator of worlds? In 31 verses of scripture – 6 days + 1 – God created……….

"What's Mine is Yours"

05/15/2026

May 17 - 7th Sunday of Easter – Ascension Sunday
Sermon title: “What’s Mine is Yours”
Scripture: John 17:1-11

In John 17 we hear Jesus pray the phrase “What’s Mine is Yours.” Well, I couldn’t help but think of the opposite phrase: “Mine, mine, mine!” It’s a major part of the child’s world. And we adults understand that “possession is 9/10ths of the Law.” If you control it, you kinda own it. Being selfish is a problem we all struggle to overcome because it’s also vital to our survival. How does that work when we are called to Christlike? To be last so that we can be first in God’s kingdom; to be servant of all so we can be the greatest in God’s kingdom. Wait? Does even THAT motivation (access to God’s kingdom) sound selfish? Wow! Come and struggle with this on Sunday.

May 10 6th Sunday of Easter – Mother’s Day
Sermon title: “The Promise”
Scripture: John 14: 15-21

“I promise!” These are two of the most powerful words a person can say! When you tell someone this then you are staking your name and placing your reputation on the line. You are claiming that you are responsible and trustworthy and that you have a sincere conscience and character. You are stating that you are dependable, and that people can count on you. But go and break a promise and see what happens! Everything you worked so hard to present about yourself as a trustworthy and dependable person has gone out the window. The question we ask this Sunday? Do you trust God’s promises?
