Completely Unprepared: A Four-Week Journey to the Days of Awe
NOTE NEW TIMING: 6:30pm dinner; 7:00pm Discussion
Rosh Hashanah has a way of arriving before we're ready. The tradition never meant for us to walk in cold. The High Holydays sit in the middle of a longer journey, one that begins in midsummer with Tisha B'Av and doesn't end until we dance with the Torah in October. Over four evenings this August, we'll trace that whole arc: letting our defenses fall, waking up, rehearsing our own mortality, and coming out the other side into a fragile, joyful, temporary home.
Each session brings teaching, open conversation, and a close look at short passages from our liturgy, so that when we sit together in services this fall, we'll know what these days ask of us and what to listen for. Come to all four and the journey builds. Come to one and it stands on its own.
Attend one, two, three or all four!
Monday, August 3 - Tisha B'Av and Elul: The Walls Come Down
Wednesday, August 12 - Rosh Hashanah: Wake Up
Wednesday, August 19 - Yom Kippur: The Rehearsal
