Watching Chris give a check to Ray Sport from the Gideons yesterday morning represented so much more than just a donation. It was an investment in the future of God’s Kingdom work. Something that Plainview Baptist Church has done since 1942. My time with this sweet church ends in a couple of weeks, but it has been one of the best times in all my years of ministry. We began the journey of seeking God’s direction for the future of this church almost a year ago. We prayed, we studied the scriptures, and we sought the guidance of the wonderful Revitalization/Replant team at the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association This is not an easy process for a church. There were many emotions as we moved forward. In the end God provided the answers that led to a solid resolve to make a way for the church to REPLANT a new church in the community. The BMBA was able to identify a REPLANT pastor. The church voted and set into motion the process that I believe will result in this old church building being full again. The church made a decision to invest in the future of Gospel ministry in this community and I believe it’s an investment that will pay great dividends. It’s been an honor to serve the sweet people of this great church that just happens to be located one block from my childhood home in Tarrant. I don’t view this as a church closing. This is a New Beginning and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for 1389 Park Avenue!!
