In a biblical context, God the Holy Spirit prunes our lives, in order to increase our spiritual fruitfulness; by the removing of anything or anyone that hinders our life or growth in Christ Jesus.

As the gardener, described in John 15, God selectively trims healthy fruit-bearing areas of our lives, with a focus upon our heart and soul- upon what is truly valuable and important to God. In this divine pruning, God uses a variety of actions or seasons, so that He may refine our character and to assure we fulfill the purpose for which He has purposed for our lives.

God will use His Holy Scriptures, to reveal and to accomplish His divine destiny for our lives. It is said, God’s Word is as a “mirror”, that brings forth a holy conviction of our sin- that identifies our unhealthy mindsets and ways. In this holy pruning, God’s holiness is brought forth, as a heavenly Light that illuminates and brings forth a conviction of our soul.

God’s humility is attained within our heart, by the stripping away of anything or anyone, that is not of Him. Most commonly, this pruning involves material success, or in desiring approval from others, or in our bad habits or friends and old relationships. All is accomplished by God through the Lord Jesus, by the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of Christ seeks to deepen our faith and trust in Him and His love. Truly, the Spirit is our Heavenly “Flame of Love”. God seeks to deepen our trust in His love, His position, His provision, and His power.

There are circumstances that arise- sickness, transitions, unhealthy relationships. There are circumstances of the pruning process of God, that will expose idols that have a stronghold within our heart; idols that seek lordship over our life.

Be not dismayed, God desires to hide our hearts and souls, in His shadow of His presence. Sometimes, we will feel alone, and isolated, and not esteemed. Be of good cheer, these are God’s tools of “quiet time”. What a blessing we have in the pruning of our hearts!

“MOTHER OF ALL VIRTUES”

What beauty is to be found in the virtue of Humility; for it is truly the “mother of all virtues”.

The humility of Jesus Christ is not extinguished when we die. Rather, it is said, “Our humility will blossom with the blood of its witnesses.” What greater testimony, regarding humility, can be found than the humility of Jesus Christ and Him crucified!

Through His humility we receive His life!. What love can compare to His love and humility. For, the Son of God humbled Himself, so He would become God’s holy sacrifice.

How can we ever know a greater love, than the love that is found within the grace of His humility? The love of God has come to us, by the way of His humility. To attempt to separate the love of God from the humility of Christ Jesus, is a great tragedy!

The humility of Christ Jesus enabled the Lord to lay down His precious and pure life, for a world that did not know or love Him. How can we truly ever apprehend in our hearts such humility and such love?

His blood was poured out for many. By the way of the blood of His cross, Jesus revealed to the entire world His virtue of humility. Only God the Holy Spirit can implant His virtue of humility deep within our repentant and humbled hearts.

The virtue of humility is not the work of our own flesh- of our own holiness and power. Only God can do away with the debris of our pride.

For humility is the Heavenly work of the Spirit of Christ. Humility is miraculous! Humility is divine! God gives us His only Begotten Son, so that by the way of His suffering and shame- we could receive the grace of His humility.

The Church fathers embraced this “mother of all virtues”. They knew that humility could only be found and known in our hearts, by we becoming partakers of His nature- by the way of His humility. Humility binds our heart with the heart of Christ!

Humility is always a matter of the heart. But, know that only the humble heart can ascend to the mountain of God’s presence. Humility

“THE FAITH OF THE FATHERS”

The Father’s of the Church- those early Bishops, theologians, and defenders of the faith- handed down to us not only doctrine, but a living tradition of worship, rooted in the mystery of the Eucharist.

Their writings and their teachings echo with a deep reverence for the Sacred Communion Table. For at the Table is where Christ, by the Spirit of Christ, continues to offer up His holy body and blood to the Church today.

To what the Church believed from its beginning, we must listen to her Fathers. They were closer in time to the Apostles. They lived in the shadow of the early church Martyrs.

They Suffered for the Faith, and they received and preserved the truth, with their very lives. Their witness is clear: the Eucharist was never viewed as symbolic. It was always, and remains so today, the real presence of Jesus Christ.

St. Ignatius of Antioch, writing in the early second century, warned against those who denied the reality of the Eucharist. Look at what Ignatius wrote, who by the way was believed to have been discipled by the Apostle John. He wrote, “They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ.”
From the beginning of our Christian faith, from Christ down to His Apostles, down to those they discipled, down through the centuries- to this very day- belief in the real presence was and is never optional. It was essential to the faith.

From the days of Christ Jesus to today, the fathers of the faith have defended this divine mystery; not because they understood it fully- but, because they received it by faith.
They believed Christ Jesus had all authority; they fully relied upon and trusted in His words, “This is My body… This My blood.” The Apostles always believed that in the Eucharist, the Incarnation continued. They believed in the unifying power of the Eucharist. St Augustine wrote, “The Eucharist was the bond of love, that mystically unites

“Only The Spirit Reveals God”

If we purify our natural senses, we shall see and come to know Christ Jesus. Our hearts and souls must be cleansed first, by the Spirit through the blood of the cross.Then we shall see and experience Heaven on earth!

The cure for our spiritual blindness comes by the way of the Holy Spirit- through a life of sacrificial love, repentance, forgiveness, humility, prayer, confession and worship. Then the hidden beauty, miracles, and mysteries of Heaven shall be revealed to our hearts.

It is the complete transformation of our spiritual eyes, that enables our hearts to see others as God sees them. Spiritual eyes see beyond the flaws of others. When we see what we see, we see others as God Himself sees them- perfectly and wonderfully made in His image!

The outer brokenness of our souls no longer blocks the image of Christ Jesus in others. We must beseech God to heal and restore our spiritual eyes. Only then can we see the world the way the Spirit sees it. Instead of being limited to only being able to see through physical eyes, God desires we see through the eyes of the Spirit.

We must learn that there are two types of sight- the natural and the spiritual. The mind and sight of God’s Kingdom requires eyes of the Spirit. Spiritual blindness is all to prevalent. The cause is ultimately our sin- our stubbornness to hold on to unforgiveness, pride or selfish ambitions. Such hardened heart of sin clouds our spiritual eyes from seeing the world as God sees it. The sad consequence is we shall miss the presence and beauty of God, in our midsts.

So it is, only the Holy Spirit awakens our faith, in the unseen presence of God. Only with the eyes and heart of God, can the mystery of the Eucharist be revealed. Holy Communion is a Heavenly mystery; and no amount of theological intellect can unveil and see what is hidden in the body and blood of this Sacrament of Sacraments. Only the Holy Spirit can open the eyes of our hearts to see what we see!

“THE MARTYRS AND THE MYSTERY”

It was written long ago, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church. This saying has echoed through centuries of Christian history. It is truth!

Unlike today, from its earliest days, for many centuries, the Church was not built upon formulas, programs, systems money, human strategies, and clever words.

It was built upon the unwavering testimony of those who believed that Jesus Christ was present- spirit, body, soul and divinity- in the holy Eucharist. It was established upon believers who would rather die, than to ever deny Him!

To understand the mystery of Holy Communion, we must also understand the hearts of the martyrs. They, by the Spirit, saw what so many have forgotten or rejected to this day. God unveiled to the hearts of the Church, that the Eucharist was at the very center of the Christian life. To these saints, Holy Communion was not some religious option. It was everything!

In the early church, the believers had to gather in secret- often in catacombs, caves, or homes; so they might celebrate and partake in the Divine Liturgy. Often, it was very dangerous. To be found with the consecrated bread could mean death. And yet, they came. These devoted hearts risked everything, so they might receive the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Why? Because they had seen Him. They believed with all their hearts that when the priest lifted the bread and cup, something eternal took place. Heaven opened! The Lamb of God was present among them. His fragrant presence filled the meeting place. The Eucharist was never symbolic to these followers of Christ. It was, by the Holy Spirit, sacred reality- not apprehend by man’s wisdom.

It was never just a memorial gesture. It was the very life of God, made accessible to God’s people; for the soul can only be nourished by the Divine Life of God- found within the Eucharist; body and blood, by the Holy Spirit.

“THE BLOOD”

Dear Church, please ask the Holy Spirit to fix within your heart and soul, that the blood of Christ Jesus and Him crucified, is not a symbol or some religious saying. The blood of Christ is as real today, as it was flowing from our Lord’s precious body 2,000 years ago.

His blood remains real for all eternity- sacred, holy, and living. The Holy Scriptures shall always declare, “The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar, to make atonement for your sins…” (Lev 17:11)

Jesus’ blood was not and forever will be not, just some ordinary blood. His blood is the blood of the Incarnate Word, conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary, untouched by man, untainted by the fall of Adam. It is forever filled with Jesus’ divine life!

Jesus lifted up the cup and said, “This is My blood.” He was making an eternal declaration. The chalice of God held more than w**e. It held the very essence of redemption!

The cup held the covenant that would never fail. It held the power to divinely cleanse, heal,and restore all who would believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ- with all their heart, soul, and strength.

So it remains to this day. In the holy Eucharist, the blood of Jesus is made present- not re-shed; but by the Holy Spirit it is re-presented. The same blood poured out on Calvary is offered at the Communion Altar.

This is God’s holy mystery! The cross is not repeated; but, it is made present. The blood of the Son of God is not symbolically called. It remains spiritually and substantially there!

From the earliest days of the Church, the blood and body of Christ Jesus is revered beyond man’s words or understanding. They did not casually rush to the cup commonly. They received it by faith and trembling joy! They believed that to drink of the cup of the blood of Christ, was to receive divine life into their mortal bodies. The Eucharist was always the church’s lifeline to God- it was more than religious doctrine.

“The Mystery of Holy Communion”

Holy Communion has never been a religious ritual. The Eucharist is a holy moment when Heaven meets earth.

It is not just bread and w**e- it is the very body and blood of Christ. The altar is not a symbolic platform; it is a Sacred meeting place between God and His people!

When Jesus said, “This is My body.. this is My blood; He was not speaking figuratively. The Lord was revealing a sacred mystery. It was a revelation of a divine mystery, that transcended our human logic; and by the Holy Spirit, draws the faithful into His divine love.

Holy Communion is only received in the heart. Just as Mary received the Word made flesh into her womb, we receive Him into our very being through the Eucharist. In this holy sacrament God is encountered and we partake.

Let us not stir up debate; but, let us be awakened to His wonder. Let us not seek argument, but to draw our hearts to the Table where Christ offers Himself completely.

To approach the Table is to approach the divine and most holy presence of God. To eat the bread and to drink the cup is to receive Jesus Christ. This is not now, nor never was considered by the followers of Christ as a religious symbol- but the Person of Christ. Holy, Sacred, and eternal.

The Eucharist is not a memorial gesture; but, it is offered as the ultimate offering of Himself- by the Spirit of God.

It is when Jesus reveals the depth of His love! It is not a new sacrifice. It is the one and only sacrifice of Calvary, made present to the body of Christ today, by the Spirit of Christ.

Through the Eucharist, God invites us into the burning center of The Lord’s sacrificial love- into a divine Union with the Lamb of God. God gives to us Himself- as food for our soul, and life for our spirit.

This mystery of God humbles us. We do not approach as intellectual scholars, but as children. We can never understand, but our hearts hunger. We only need to believe.

“LOVE MARKS THE MAN”

In the fellowship of His sufferings, the true follower of Christ Jesus will know experientially the grace of humility, perseverance, divine love, endurance, faithfulness, and obedience. God’s children have been rescued from this evil generation and given a new life by the Holy Spirit.

However, No man abides in deep intimacy with God, who is not deeply and affectionately in love with God. Divinely inspired love that is fixed upon Jesus Christ and Him crucified, is God’s mark upon the man.

Such a man God will deliver from evil, and will be put to use as a vessel of the Lord. But, such a life must be one that endures the fellowship of Jesus’ sufferings, and remains and continues in the love of God.

“Let no man bring me trouble, for I bare in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Gal 6:17). This is to be our lifetime confession. How we live must align with this confession. Our lives will be divinely seared by the scars of Jesus. It is a life that is urged on, with love of God. And such a follower of God, will be the one who bares the marks of the Lord Jesus Christ, deep within the heart.

The world and Man seek movements; but, Jesus brought forth the holy Fire of the Spirit, by the way of the cross and the blood of the cross.

The Sufferer was slaughtered upon the cross, and His body and precious blood illuminated the holiness, love, and power of God.
