We just finished part one of our three part summer series PASSION - PURPOSE - PURSUE. We are all called to be passionately in love with Jesus - Others - and ourselves - J.O.Y. Truly loving God the way He deserves to be loved, gives us the ability to love others and ourselves the way He wants us to. This Sunday we begin the second part - PURPOSE: I.O.U. What is our purpose as His Church inside the four walls - Outside the Church and U...personally. It's gonna be great. Sunday 10am at Community UMC in Oldsmar. All are welcome - come as you are.

Great working out our salvation with a bunch of old friends and new ones. Handed out 140 boxes of food to those in need. We love what you are doing in Bradenton at Hungers End. Let me know if you want to go down some Wednesday and workout.

So last night in our young adults gathering we began a series about ATTITUDE. As I studied for this I found that the word 'attitude" comes from the Latin word where we get the same word "aptitude" from. What's interesting is the Latin definition for "aptitude" is 'the quality of being fit for a purpose or position"
We began this study by looking at the sermon on the mount. A moment in eternity where Jesus took the 12 who had just started following him up a mountain to see things differently. They had already had seen Jesus do some amazing things but now....I believe Jesus told them if....if you want to have the aptitude that will move you up the mountain to see the big picture your attitude....the way you think needs to change. You need to start thinking like me and this is how you do it. It's like looking at a dot in the middle of a white piece of paper....most will only see the dot....not all the white. They miss the big picture.
As I began to chew on this attitude lesson from Jesus it began to transform my attitude. I found that this is the mind of Christ. I will never have the aptitude to be a professional football player or a Stephen Hawking or Bill Gates but through Jesus I know what my purpose is and what position he wants for me. His purpose....my purpose...our purpose is the same....and He wants to position us in such a way that will be freedom and hope to us and to those we meet but it has to start with the right attitude that will give us what we need to move up in position so that we can see the bigger picture.
Thank you Justin for leading worship. Thanks Robbie for coming to help set up and to Barbara for the awesome brownies and of course my awesome wife. We asked everyone to start reading the sermon on the mount to prepare for an attitude shift that will move us to a place we have never been before.
Speaking of where we have never been before. I am still looking for some more guys to help unload some food this Wednesday at Hungers End in Bradenton. We are going to meet at the church at 630am......to some giving....and then get some lunch and be back in Tarpon around 2. This is what we do...we grow so that we can go....let me know if you can go.

AMAZING...
So Jesus explained, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does." John 5:19
"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me." John 6:38
Have you ever had someone ask you if your a cup half full or half empty kind of person? I was thinking about that a while back and I realized I am neither. I am a cup overflowing kind of person...sometimes it might not look that way and I may not act that way but knowing who I know and what I know means my cup overflows everyday. What's amazing to know is that everyday.....everyday God wants us to participate in His life and that is out of this world amazing. Each day is another opportunity to come along side Him and make a difference. Each day He wants us too.....wow. How can my cup...my life not overflow knowing that the Creator of all that is good wants that for me. It's an attitude that we need to cultivate in our daily lives....especially in times of stress and struggles. Even in the midst of having a bad day it can be amazing to know that He is still there....still moving and He wants us to join Him. God is amazing and He thinks the same about us. You see a cup half full or half empty will never overflow and splash...touch anyone else.....but a cup that overflows with the understanding of how God sees them will somehow...someway touch others lives with the same realization.....AMAZING.

Last night was our first night of bringing together our young adults. 12 participated....we even had someone show up who was just looking for a church that was open....God appointed for sure. Great group with unbelievable possibilities. Meeting again this Sunday....at 630 in the gym at Tarpon Methodist. Gonna be about doing some growing so we can do some going....in the near future to come. Come on out

LET'S PLAY
One of my favorite fictional stories ever is Lord of the Rings. For someone who read the books before the movies came out you knew the ending but that didn't make it less exciting. As a matter of fact it made it even more so because now you could see Tolkien's and your imagination come to life. All the characters. People you already knew....loved....didn't like....standing before you. The movies even spawned conventions and products that took the story to and even greater level. I went to a midnight release of one of them and I couldn't believe how many were dressed up as the characters. They were actually living it out...existing in it.

The Bible is a story that gives us a glimpse into why we are here....meaning to our existence....purpose. And like Lord of the Rings we know the end of the story. But instead of looking at or reading about the characters....we are the characters. And like those LotL nerds like me....this story needs to shape our lives....transform us. Each day is a sentence...a new plot....a new chapter....a new opportunity for God to write about you. The wise grayed haired friend....the little guy....the beautiful warrior....the uncertain king....the wanderer with a purpose....the steadfast friend....the stubborn....the silly....the childlike....the story. We know the ending for sure but where do we fit in the middle because Jesus died so that we would....so we have a part to play. LET'S PLAY.

My wife and I live with my Dad in Eastlake Woodlands. The past couple of weeks I have seen real estate signs in front of some houses that say 'coming soon." My wife found out why it doesn't just say for sale. It's because they are getting their house ready to sell.

I believe our lives as followers of Jesus is to having that mentality....coming soon. Everyday is one day closer to us meeting Him face to face. Are we ready for that? Are we intentionally living our lives getting others ready? We have a very short time here on earth and we have a mark to leave....a difference to make.

Everyday is a day that we are given the unbelievable honor to participate in God's life. He's coming soon.....let's go and leave His mark on this world. A mark that will bring others not to an end but to a new beginning that will last forever.
