The Giving Tree is a volunteer-run community service ministry, clothing bank, and food pantry that accepts and distributes clothing, food, diapers, and other useful household items free of charge to individuals and families in the Taos area. We believe in caring for people’s physical needs, and also ministering to their spiritual needs. We offer prayer, support, and the good news of Jesus that is
apparent through love in action. Hours: Clothing Bank Wednesday-Friday 12:30p-2:30p, Food Distribution on the LAST WEDNESDAY of the month, 12-3:30p
Donations:
Gently used clothing, books, tools, household items, furniture, electronics etc... and unopened canned and non-perishable food are accepted. All items must be brought in and checked by attendants. Keep in mind that we are giving these items away to help others, only bring items that are in good condition. We are unable to dispose of or accept non-working, dirty, trash items. Also we may not accept items that we already have excess of i.e. winter sweaters, in the summer. Clothing donations must be clean and folded neatly in a box or bag. No excessive holes, stains or “trash items.”

The Giving Tree is a community service ministry, organized by volunteers, designed to accept & distribute clothing, and other useful household items, diapers & food in the Taos area free of charge. History:
Director/founder Christalyn Concha, was given the vision for the Giving Tree soon after the “Free Box” in Taos closed down. The free box was a great service to the people, however it was shut down for some serious issues of cleanliness, hoarding, and trash dumping. Concha wanted to provide a similar service, but in a clean and organized way... like a free thrift shop. Concha had recently began attending the Pentecostal Church of God and learned of the monthly food pantry and what once was a clothing give away. She asked other members if they would be interested in reviving it, but with consistent weekly hours, and more community outreach. Misty Ortiz, who had been running the food pantry, said it was an answer to prayer, she was needing some help, so together with the support of the Pastors John and Donna Roberts and other members, they opened the doors December 23, 2011. In July 2014, The Giving Tree expanded to More Pieces and combined with Good News Food Pantry, resulting in The Good News Giving Tree Food Pantry. Then the Giving Tree relocated down the street from More Pieces, January 2016, behind Subway. As of July 2021 the GT has expanded into a larger location in the building next door, behind Allsups and next to Sears.
