Memorial Day was established in 1868 to honor soldiers who had died in the U.S. Civil War.

Originally called Decoration Day, it was a time to decorate the soldiers' graves with flowers.

In 1971, Congress declared Memorial Day a federal holiday to be observe on the last Monday in May, expanding its purpose to honor the fallen from every war.

While you enjoy the three-day weekend, please set aside a moment to reflect on those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)
