Blessings

What does it mean to bless something—and who has the power to do it? Drawing on the wisdom of John O’Donohue, Marge Piercy, and Frederick Buechner, we’ll explore blessing as an act of attention, love, and courage. We’ll consider how blessing helps us see the sacred in ordinary moments, reframe the difficult parts of our lives, and remember that each of us has the power to bless—and to be a blessing to others.

The UUFES Meeting House is located at
the Four Corners in Tamworth Village.
All are warmly welcome.

The Power of Words

The UUFES Poetry Group invites you to a service exploring the ways poetry can open our hearts, challenge us, and help us see the world—and ourselves—with new eyes. Through the words of Mary Oliver, Naomi Shihab Nye, Mark Nepo, Rosemerry Trommer, John Denver, Derek Walcott, and others, we’ll reflect on belonging, fear, love, loss, and the unexpected beauty of being alive. Come listen, wander, and see where the poems take you.

UUFES Service 10 a.m. Sunday: Finding the Still Small Voice Within

In a world filled with noise, demands, notifications, and competing voices, how do we learn to listen for the quiet wisdom within us? This Sunday, we will explore the "still small voice" through the story of Elijah, the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, and the Unitarian Universalist practice of living openly with questions and uncertainty. Together, we will consider how stillness, reflection, community, and compassion can help us discern which voices within us are worth listening to—and discover the wisdom that may be waiting beneath the noise.

The UUFES Meeting House is located at
the Four Corners in Tamworth Village.
All are warmly welcome.

UUFES Service 10 a.m. Sunday: A Taxi at the End of the World

What happens when we stop seeing people as immigrants, refugees, deportees, or strangers—and begin seeing the human beings behind the labels? A Taxi at the End of the World explores the plight of immigrants and refugees through poetry, music, reflection, and stories of displacement, including Carolyn Forché's powerful poem The Boatman and Woody Guthrie's Deportee. In a time when immigration enforcement and fear have reached communities close to home, including Biddeford, Maine, we will ask what our commitment to inherent worth and dignity calls us to do—and how we can turn strangers into neighbors.
