The longer we operate out of limitation due to our circumstances, the more we learn to adapt, cope, and survive within those circumstances. Over time, what has held us stagnant can begin to feel familiar, making freedom seem uncomfortable or even frightening when it’s finally offered.
Yet true healing and redemption require us to trust the Lord beyond our own understanding. Just as the man at the Pool of Bethesda had to respond to Jesus’ word and rise up, we too must choose to get up and walk away from the limiting beliefs, mindsets, and past experiences that have kept us bound. Freedom may feel unfamiliar, but God’s word is trustworthy. When He calls us to rise, He also empowers us to walk in the healing and restoration He has prepared for us.

(John 5:4-8)

Being receptive to God’s restoration and purification allows Him to truly work within us, shaping us more into His image. The process of refinement may not always feel good, but there is glory on the other side of obedience. Many times, when we resist or reject what God is trying to do in us, we delay where He is calling us to be. But when we come before the Lord with a humble, softened, and surrendered heart, it opens the door to true repentance and transformation. Your “yes” to God gives Him room to position you for the purpose, calling, and place He has destined for you. If he has done it for those that aren’t his imagine for those that are and give him a “yes”.

How many times have we become so familiar with what God is saying that we stop hearing Him?

The people in Nazareth knew Jesus, but knowing about Him wasn’t the same as receiving Him.

This week: Listen. Look Deeper. Learn.

Trying to find satisfaction everywhere else will leave you empty.
There’s a different kind of fullness that comes from delighting in the Lord. ✨

Family, let’s truly learn to delight ourselves in the Lord to the point where, even if He was all we had, He would still be more than enough. So often, we don’t realize how deeply we crave our own desires more than we crave the presence of God Himself. We convince ourselves that the things we want will finally satisfy the longing in our hearts, yet those things are temporary and fleeting. True delight isn’t found in possessions, accomplishments, or fulfilled desires it’s found in God alone. Nothing this world offers could ever compare to the fullness, peace, and joy found in His presence.

Sunday’s message reminded us of something dangerous…
Jesus can become so familiar to our culture that we stop truly seeing Him.

We know the name.
We know the stories.
We’ve heard the sermons.
But extended exposure to Jesus is not the same as surrender to Jesus.

The greatest danger may not be open unbelief…
but dulled perception.

Don’t let familiarity reduce your reverence.
Don’t let knowing about Him keep you from truly knowing Him.

Familiarity with Jesus can become dangerous when it replaces reverence for Jesus.

They couldn’t deny what Jesus said or even the miracles He had done. Their issue wasn’t lack of exposure — it was that Jesus seemed just like one of them.

“Truly I tell you… no prophet is accepted in his hometown.” — Luke 4:24

They were so familiar with the context of Him that they missed the weight of who He truly was.

We can grow up in church, know Bible stories, hear sermons every week, and still never truly surrender to Him.

Familiarity can reduce reverence and make us think there’s nothing more to know about Him.
