The blood of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit fire cleanse the heart—
Cleansing it of hatred, resentment, and sorrow stemming from grief or from things that did not turn out as desired. It was through a lack of self-control, love, and the power of God that these things took root in your heart—because you failed to put God first, in Spirit and in Truth.
Read Psalm 1; it states that we must not walk alongside family members or friends who are living in sin. God desires for you to walk with Him, so that He may prepare you—so that you may be with the One who is filled with love and power.
John 3:16 declares that we are found, not lost.
You must join the company of "the found" in order to be clothed in the garments of the Kingdom. You must be properly attired for the Great Day.
Read Matthew 19:28–29.
Read 2 Peter 1.

Steps to look forward—and not forget that we were cleansed of our former sins—so that we do not fall back into a pattern of sin. Follow these steps:
2 Peter 1:5
Add to your faith virtue; to virtue, knowledge; 6 to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, patience; to patience, godliness; 7 to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these things are in you and abound, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Do not forget the cleansing of your former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure; for by doing these things, you will never stumble. 11 For in this way, a wide and generous entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be granted to you.
