We’ve been going through the Old Testament in the past few weeks, and this week, we took a look at the story of Sarah in Genesis 18:1-15. She was tired, hopeless and not feeling deserving of a miracle God had promised her.

Like Sarah, sometimes we wait so long that hope begins to feel impossible.

Maybe today you’re tired. Maybe you’re worn down, discouraged or wondering if things will ever change. Sarah’s story reminds us that God meets us in those places, too. ❤️

As Pastor Nicki shared, God has not left the building. God is still at work and is bringing life and hope into places that can feel hopeless. And even in our toughest moments, God can use us to bring that same hope into the world around us.

Nothing is too wonderful for God. ✨

Lights off! 💡 This past week, our Sunday school kids “camped out” to see the stars! 🌟

They stepped right into Abraham’s story and got to imagine what it might have felt like to look up at a sky full of stars (and hear God make an incredible promise!!)

This week, our Sunday School kiddos learned about Abraham and God’s promises…

God told Abraham to look up at the stars and reminded him that He had a big plan for his family. 🌟 The lesson here for the kids (and adults!) is that even when we don’t know what our future looks like, we can always trust that God is with us.

They also made this special art project to help them remember the story!

Each week, our Midlife Maidens put together “Blessing Bags” for our unhoused neighbors. We give them out at our Free Wednesday night dinner. We run out every week and we know they are making a big difference! If you have the capacity to help, we’ve created an Amazon Wishlist!

What does it mean to live a truly generous life? ❤️

This week, Pastor Nicki reflected on Dolly Parton, who gave an estimated $500 million during her lifetime. Time and time again, Dolly choose generosity over simply building greater wealth. Through her Imagination Library alone, hundreds of millions of books have been given to children around the world, along with countless gifts to support the people and communities of East Tennessee ❤️

As we wrap up another month, we have the opportunity to take a moment to look back and notice the ways God has been with us—through the celebrations, the challenges and the ordinary moments in between. No matter what August looked like, tomorrow is a fresh start! 🙌

Sundays are a little brighter when we learn and grow together. 💛

Bring your little ones to Children’s Church every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Seminole Heights United Methodist Church! Pastor Nicki shares a fun message that helps kids discover God’s love and recognize how they can find Him in their everyday lives—through kindness, compassion and the people around them.

After the message, the fun continues with an interactive Sunday school activity filled with games, crafts, hands-on learning and opportunities to make new friends.
