Please join us this Sunday at 8:15am⛪the Third Sunday of Easter!

👨‍🌾The Good Shepherd Feeds His Lambs 🐑

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain” (Rev. 5:12), who by His cross has conquered sin and death. With His blood, He has “ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Rev. 5:9). This same Lord Jesus visits people of all
nations and calls them to Himself by the Gospel, even as He “was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead” (John 21:14).

He restored Simon Peter to faith and life, and He commissioned him to feed His lambs and tend His sheep (John 21:15–17). Likewise, He revealed Himself to Saul of Tarsus and brought him to repentance, so that the persecutor of Jesus might carry and confess His name “before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel” (Acts 9:15).

Jesus Christ Has Reconciled Us to the Father:

God the Father has opened His heart to us in love. While we were "still a long way off," He saw us and "felt compassion" (Luke 15:20).

Therefore, He gave His only begotten Son for us, making "him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Cor. 5:21).

By the ministry of reconciliation, He runs to us, embraces us in mercy and clothes us with His glory as beloved sons in Christ Jesus. And so we give thanks unto the Lord our God, who has taken away our sins and turned His anger from us (Is. 12:1).

Because He has become our salvation, our strength and our song, we "will trust, and will not be afraid" (Is. 12:2).

A main emphasis of our Lenten discipline is our struggle against temptations to sin and toward true repentance that leads to living faithful Christian lives.

As our physical well-being depends in part on healthy choices of diet, in this Sunday's Readings, God uses the metaphor of eating and drinking to warn and encourage His people to avoid the temptations of the world and our own sin that leads us away from God and to rely constantly on the forgiveness and faith that God provides to enable us to lead godly lives.

In the Epistle this Sunday, Paul has in mind how God provides for us in His Word and Sacraments. We are to remember not only that we were baptized but that we are baptized, meaning God still provides us with saving, bold faith that relies on His mercy and grace because we belong to Him now.

The center of the Divine Service is the Sacrament of Christ's body and blood, through which we are given forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation—all the benefits won for us by the cross and sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.

Today we are encouraged to receive and rely on God's gifts and provision constantly, that we may maintain a healthy and strong faith in the face of all adversities and challenges.

Honoring Our Commitment at the City Cemetery 💛

Every year, the ladies of Zion gather at the city cemetery on Ola Street to care for a special grave site. This family plot belongs to a former member of Zion, where their family's generosity continues to bless our church.

Yesterday, we fulfilled our commitment for 2025, raking leaves and ensuring the site remains well-kept as a token of our gratitude.

We are thankful for this tradition of service and the opportunity to honor a faithful member’s legacy.

With many blessings,
Zion Lutheran Church

This Sunday marks the first Sunday in Lent ✝️

What is "Lent"?
Lent is a season of the Church Year that lasts 6 weeks. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (tomorrow, March 5th!) and ends the day before Easter Sunday.

During these 6 weeks we look forward to Good Friday, the day our Lord died on the cross to pay for our sins, and to Easter Sunday, the day He rose from the dead to prove it!!!

People often give up something they enjoy during Lent to think about Jesus. Every time you think about doing what you gave up for Lent, it will remind you of what Jesus gave up for you - His life.

💟Blessings to you as you experience the wonderful journey of Lent.
