In service today, Apostle Harris’ message was “My Mouth: Part 2” based on Psalm 141:1–3. The focus was on the power of our words.
We were encouraged to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Apostle Harris shared that sometimes people talk too much because they are trying to impress, persuade, or gain approval from others. However, excessive talking often creates opportunities for sin.
Apostle gave several scriptures to reinforce the importance of our words:
* Psalm 141:1–3 records David’s prayer, asking God to set a guard over his mouth and watch over his lips.
* Proverbs 10:19 warns that when words are many, sin is not absent, but wisdom is found in controlling one’s speech.
* Proverbs 18:21 teaches that death and life are in the power of the tongue, and our words carry great influence.
* Numbers 14:26–28 reveals that God takes our words seriously, and the Israelites experienced the consequences of the negative things they continually spoke.
* Mark 11:22–24 teaches the importance of faith-filled speech that aligns with God’s promises.
A few other points that Apostle Harris shared today were that: We frame our world with our words; what we consistently speak influences our outlook and actions. To speak life is to speak God’s perspective over every situation rather than the world’s perspective. We cannot live by worldly principles and expect Kingdom results and blessings. We must be mindful of our words because the enemy desires to use careless speech against us.
We thank God for His Word, the anointed Praise & Worship, and the powerful message today!!!
