In August 2003, the Nance family moved from West Virginia to Tampa, Florida to start a church in South Tampa under the ministry of Westgate Baptist Church. With the blessing and help of Westgate and Pastor Bruce Turner, Southside Baptist Church was organized on November 23, 2003. On

that special day, 19 baptized believers organized the Southside Baptist Church with Kerry Nance as their pastor. The church is an Independent Baptist church located in South Tampa, and is just off of Dale Mabry on W. Our church is easily accessible from anywhere in the Tampa Bay area. At the Southside Baptist Church, though we have one message-the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, and one ministry-the ministry He has given us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, our desire is to reach Tampa as well as the world with the gospel.

What a great day in the Lord’s house this Sunday!

Our teens did an outstanding job with the Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, and we are praising the Lord for the $2,700 raised today! Thank you to everyone who gave and supported this effort. Only Heaven will reveal the lives that will be impacted because of your generosity.

This Sunday was special for another reason as well, it was our VBS GO Sunday! Following the afternoon service, our VBS teams spread out across the church and began transforming their rooms in preparation for Vacation Bible School.

We are so thankful for the wonderful spirit of unity and service in our church family. We can’t wait to see what the Lord will do through Red, White, and True VBS 2026! Please be in prayer that God will work in the hearts of the children and families who attend.

We hope you’re making plans to be at church tomorrow!

Our teens have been busy all morning working around the church to help raise money for camp. After the morning service tomorrow, join us in the Family Life Center for a delicious spaghetti dinner prepared by our teens as they continue raising funds for camp.

Come enjoy a great meal, support our young people, and help send them to camp. We look forward to seeing you there! 🍝

Last night, we had a special service recognizing our 2026 graduates: Kyle Tatum for his college graduation, Marti Searson for her high school graduation, and Aylah for graduating Kindergarten! We are thankful for each of these young people and all they have accomplished. We are also so grateful for a church family that is always willing to spend time together, encourage one another, and celebrate life’s special moments together!
