This morning at Center for Spiritual Living Tampa Bay, Practitioner Ellen Fenner shared a message cut to the heart of spiritual practice.

In "Scrambled or Fried?" she drew on memories of growing up on a New Hampshire farm to explore the profound spiritual lessons hidden within the simple cycle of life, growth, and transformation.

Using stories of chickens, eggs, farmers, scientists, and spiritual teachers, she reminded us that growth is not always comfortable, but it is essential. Just as a chick must break through its own shell to thrive, each of us is called to move beyond the limitations that no longer serve us and trust the process of our own unfolding.

"Growth is not a choice, it is a necessity. If the container we are in cannot accommodate our expansion, we must break out of it." ~ Ellen Fenner

This was Practitioner Sunday at CSL Tampa Bay.

This Sunday at CSL Tampa Bay: "Scrambled or Fried" with Ellen Fenner, RScP

Some questions have fascinated humanity for centuries. While science and spirituality have considered the mystery from many angles, the deeper value may not be in finding the answer, but in understanding why we ask the question in the first place.

Join Practitioner Ellen Fenner as she explores how life's great mysteries can guide us on our spiritual journey, inviting us to look beyond simple answers and discover deeper truths about ourselves, our beliefs, and our connection to Spirit.

Grateful living is important in the world because in our constant pursuit of more and better we can easily lose sight of the riches that lay right in front of us and within us.

What a wonderful morning at Center for Spiritual Living Tampa Bay as we officially launched our Summer of Sunrises & Sunsets 2026 program.

In her talk, "What Had Happened Was...", Rev. Laine Morgan reflected on the transformative power of summer camp experiences and how they help us grow, connect, and discover new possibilities within ourselves. Drawing from childhood memories of Girl Scout camp and church camp, she shared how these experiences can help us overcome fears, find belonging, and deepen our spiritual connection.

She challenged us to approach this summer with that same spirit of courage and openness. She invited us to "learn to swim" in new ways, not literally, but by moving beyond limitations, embracing personal growth, and allowing ourselves to be supported by a community of fellow travelers on the spiritual path.

As we begin this Summer of Sunrises & Sunsets journey, we'll be exploring the power of intentional living through simple morning and evening practices that help us start each day with purpose and end it with gratitude.

Summer camp officially began today with our annual Sunday Sundae of Ice cream with all the toppings, and the adventure is just getting started!

Being a Rainbow
by Rev. Laine Morgan

Rainbows seem to appear everywhere in June as we celebrate Pride Month. I had been considering what I might write about Pride when I came across a quote from Maya Angelou that immediately captured my attention:

"Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud."

A rainbow is created when light passes through a raindrop, revealing a beautiful spectrum of colors that was always present but hidden from view. What if one of our highest spiritual callings is to enter someone's cloudy moment and allow the Light of the Divine to shine through us, bringing beauty, hope, and comfort? That idea speaks deeply to me.

Have you ever noticed how the right person sometimes appears at exactly the right moment? Often, they don't need to say anything at all. Their presence alone changes the atmosphere. They walk into a room carrying a sense of peace, kindness, or encouragement, and somehow things feel lighter. Sometimes these people are dear friends, and sometimes they are complete strangers.

Think about those who have been rainbows in your life. Perhaps it was the friend who saved you a seat when you felt alone in a crowded room. Maybe it was the traveler who helped lift your suitcase into the overhead bin. It could have been the nurse who offered gentle encouragement when you were exhausted, the trusted confidant who listened without judgment, or the family member who received difficult news with acceptance and love.

Each of us experiences clouds. Some are fleeting, while others are heavy with grief, uncertainty, or emotional rain that must eventually fall. When we notice the clouds gathering around someone else, we have an opportunity. We may not be able to solve their problems or remove their pain, but we can be a rainbow. We can become a channel through which Spirit's light shines, creating a moment of beauty in the midst of difficulty.

When we allow ourselves to be instruments of the Divine, we are often called into places where clouds already exist. The blessing is that we never enter those spaces empty-handed. We carry the Light with us wherever we go.

And that is something to be proud of.

This Sunay at CSL Tampa Bay: “What Had Happened Was...” with Rev. Laine Morgan

Have you ever tried to describe a truly unforgettable experience to someone who wasn't there, only to discover that words can't quite capture its magic? In her circle of friends, Rev Laine shares that stories like that always began with the phrase, “What had happened was…”

This Sunday, as we launch our Summer of Sunrises and Sunsets, we'll explore the unique energy that emerges when people come together with a shared purpose—much like the transformative experiences many of us remember from summer camp. What is it about gathering with others who are passionate, curious, and committed to learning and growing together while also having fun?

There is a special kind of synergy that arises in these environments. Connections deepen, perspectives expand, and something greater begins to unfold. In spaces like these, transformation becomes not only possible, but natural. Join us as we celebrate the power of shared experiences and the ways they can awaken growth, joy, and lasting change - this week and all summer long!
