Be Grateful, Act Grateful

Our life and breath are given to us, a gift. As you pause at this moment, reflect on other gifts you might have received. How might you act grateful for those gifts? It could be as simple as looking at beautiful things because you are grateful for the gift of sight. Or you might call a friend as you give thanks for the ability to speak.

Prayer: Generous and loving God, I thank you for all I have received from you and from the people in my life. Help me to act grateful by sharing with others. Amen

The Franciscan Center, Tampa welcomes our summer intern, Charlotte Dorroh.

Hello! My name is Charlotte Dorroh, and I am currently pursuing a degree in marketing at Georgia College and State University. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to join the Franciscan Center as a summer intern, and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store!
I am looking forward to working alongside an incredible team, while integrating my creative insights, marketing skills, and passion for overall organizational growth to support the Franciscan Center's mission.

❤️🚒 The Franciscan Center is deeply grateful to Madeira Beach Fire Rescue for its generous support of Operation Restore through the successful Legends Never Die 5k run.

Special thanks to Chief Belk, Trish Eaton and the entire Madeira Beach Fire Department crew for their dedication and commitment to those who serve our communities and nation.

At the May 27th City of Madeira Beach Commission Meeting, Executive Director Brian Lemoi, Rev. Rick Malivuk and Mary Beth Sabo were honored to receive the proceeds from the event in the presence of Mayor Ann-Marie Brooks, members of City Leadership Team and City Council. The funds will provide up to 15 scholarships for First Responders, Retired First Responders Active Duty Military, Retired Military and Veterans who have experienced traumatic incidents in service to our nation and communities.

Together, we are helping those who have protected others to find healing, restoration and hope.

Thank you to the Madeira Beach Fire Department, Mayor Brooks, City Leadership Team and City Council for supporting those who have sacrificed so much in their service to others. ❤️🙏

Transformed
We invite you to a moment of pause in your day. Stop for a moment of pause right now. Just a minute or two or three is enough for now. Take a few deep breaths and recall that your very breath is given to you at this moment. That is how close God, the one who gives life and breath, is to you. Enjoy that quiet realization for a few moments.

For us to transform as a society, we have to allow ourselves to be transformed as individuals. And for us to be transformed...we have to allow for the incompleteness of any of our truths and a real forgiveness for the complexity of human beings.
-ANGEL KYODO WILLIAMS

The words "allow ourselves to be transformed" are significant. We cannot transform ourselves. That is God's work and God carries out that work by using the events of our lives - day by day.

Prayer: Creator God, we know that we cannot transform ourselves. It is you who transforms us. Help us to accept our own limitedness AND our own abilities to make a difference in our own lives and the lives of those around us by being open to your transforming power. Amen.

Why pray?

This moment of pause might be a good time to ask, “Why do I pray?” Do I pray to get things I want? Sister Joan Chittister, a contemporary spiritual writer, suggest we pray to come to know God in every small way we can so that we ourselves can become more like the God we seek.

Prayer: Help me, O God, to open myself to you that I may be more like you whom I seek. Amen
