Hi Everyone! Jessica Tucker here. I know we are going through scary times with a global pandemic, political and civil unrest, and financial hardship for many. However, I feel as though we have been neglecting the people we have served since the beginning of the PB&J ministry. Our mission is to share God’s love and peace with the homeless of Downtown Tampa – and we cannot do that if we are hiding in our homes. I have been thinking a lot about Mother Teresa’s ministry, and have been feeling some conviction from the Holy Spirit. If Mother Teresa can spend a lifetime ministering to the lepers despite the possibility of contracting a devastating communicable illness, I think we as a ministry should take her example. Jesus himself instructed us to feed and clothe the hungry (Matthew 25:40-45). In the book of Timothy, we are also commanded us to live without fear: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2Timothy 1:7, NKJV).
That being said, I plan to go out and spend some time handing out lunches and sharing God’s love at some point later this month. I will, of course, be careful to follow CDC guidelines as far as wearing a mask and sanitizing my hands after each interaction, and I will go alone if I have to – but it would be wonderful if other believers would join me. I have been feeling the prompting of the Holy Spirit for a while now – if anyone else has as well, and is willing to step out in faith and confidence in God’s protection with me, please let me know what day and time works best for you. I am currently working from home and am willing to adjust my work schedule to accommodate this ministry, so please let me know what would work best for those interested in getting involved. Also, anyone who is willing to donate funds to PB&J Ministry so we can start doing this again, please let me know that as well. And finally, I ask for anyone who is willing to start praying for this ministry as we move forward in these uncertain times.
