First United Church of Tampa, UCC We're a progressive and inclusive United Church of Christ congregation. We've been working for peace and justice in Tampa Bay and beyond since 1885.

Today we were honored by the visit of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers for worship and fellowship. Because farm workers deserve respect and dignity, we are proud of the amazing work CIW has done and is doing to secure life-saving human rights in the field. Sometimes we don’t always know what happens from farm to table and it is organizations like CIW that shed light to injustices, abuse, and deplorable practices.
Thank you, CIW! Let justice roll down like mighty rivers.

God is so good… all the time…

We often hear the question: "Why can't the church just say God loves everyone? Why do we have to specifically affirm LGBTQ+ people, speak against racism, celebrate diversity, or advocate for women?"

The answer is simple.

Because throughout history, the Church has not always treated everyone as though they were equally beloved by God.

There have been those who were told they were less than. Less worthy. Less welcome. Less called. Less human.

To name those who have been excluded is not to exclude everyone else. It is to proclaim the Gospel where it has too often been denied.

Jesus consistently saw those society overlooked and drew them into the center of the community. The Church is called to do the same.

We believe God loves everyone. And because we believe that, we will continue to speak clearly to those who have been told otherwise.

"There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus." - Galatians 3:28

Until everyone knows they are fully loved, fully welcomed, and fully valued, the Church's work is not finished.
