I thought I was just making a quick trip for bread to Sprouts today, but God had other plans.
This morning I pulled into Sprouts in the Revive & Restore van and started walking in when a woman looked at me and said, Lori???
I figured she was going to ask about the van. Instead, she asked, do you remember me?
I apologized and told her I didn't. (This happens more than I'd like to admit 🤪)
Then she started telling me her story.
A couple years ago she was a single mom staying in a motel with her son. They had absolutely nothing. At the time, I was at the motel helping another family get a room.
As she talked, it all came flooding back.
I remembered the really gnarly motel on Busch. I remembered her little boy. I remembered how hard things were for them.
God had placed them in that lobby at the exact moment I was there helping someone else.
She told me about the abusive relationship she had fled, losing her job, and how she just needed a few more nights in that motel to get back on her feet.
So we got them a room.
Now fast forward to today.
She works caring for children and adults with special needs. She introduced me to one of the young men she was caring for, and I stood there in the Sprouts parking lot thinking, isn't that just the goodness of God?!!
Because sometimes we do this work and never know what happens next.
We help with a meal. A motel room. Furniture. One hard week.
And then life moves on.
But two years later, this woman recognized me in a grocery store parking lot and reminded me that those moments matter.
They really matter.
If you've ever donated to Revive & Restore, volunteered, bought food, given furniture, prayed for someone, or supported this ministry in any way, please know that you are making a difference even when you can't see it.
People remember compassion.
And every once in a while, God lets you see a little piece of the story years later.
What a gift that was today ❤️
