ADOPTED, 6/11/26! Thank you to her adopter(s) and thank you for everyone who cared about MAYBEL by interacting with and sharing her post - YOU SAVED HER LIFE! HAPPY TAILS, MAYBEL!

LAST CALL for MAYBEL A2281885, she is now a DEADLINE for 6-17-26 @ 5pm. Due to FAS

Our hearts break for Maybel, to see her deteriorate so drastically is heart wrenching!!! Now she is a deadline its just not fair !!!

Maybel is a 4-year-old spayed female weighing just 32lbs she is heartworm negative. She was a playgroup dog assessed as rough rowdy social, she is pending re assessment we will be watching.

Maybel was first at PRC in 2023, at which time she weighed 44 pounds. 3 years later her weight has dropped drastically by more than 10 pounds. Maybel has had ongoing diarrhea since her return with no clear underlying cause despite medical workup.

Every time we take her out she appears thinner, she desperately needs a rescues help!!!

While she struggles severely in the kennel environment, she is an absolute good girl in the yard with us.

Maybel’s kennel stress has escalated significantly. She has been observed barking, bouncing off kennel walls, spinning, slipping in her own waste, and repeatedly soiling herself to the point that she requires frequent bathing.

She will often lay in or ingest her f***s and continues to decline emotionally and physically in the shelter environment. Her stress has also led to leash biting behavior, and during kennel handling on 06/03, a staff member was accidentally bitten while attempting to manage her leash safely.

Maybel is affectionate, social, easy to handle outside of the kennel, walks well with volunteers, enjoys treats and attention, stands calmly for baths, and seeks affection from everyone she meets.

Maybel is losing weight and continuing to deteriorate. It is no longer humane for her to remain in the shelter environment like this, and she urgently needs placement.

Please if you can help her email ASAP

Opossums live short, difficult lives, yet they spend their nights doing work many people never see.

Most only live about one to two years in the wild. They move through backyards, forests, roadsides, and neighborhoods after dark, searching for food while avoiding cars, dogs, predators, and harsh weather. Their lives are brief, but their role in nature is meaningful.

Opossums help clean the world around you. They eat pests, insects, carrion, and sometimes even venomous snakes. They also help reduce ticks, which can carry disease. In their quiet way, they support the balance of the places they pass through.

Still, many people fear them because of how they look or because they appear at night. But opossums are usually shy, gentle animals. When scared, they often freeze, hiss, drool, or play dead because they want to survive, not attack.

Kindness can be simple. Give them space. Do not harm them. Slow down when you see one near the road. Let them keep doing the work nature gave them.

Opossums may not live long, but they leave the world cleaner than they found it.

Reminder: Alligator Mating Season, Now Through June

Gia was killed by an alligator earlier this week behind her owner's lakefront home in North Fort Myers. Haywood Gandy, Gia's owner, said she usually ran around the yard but never went near the water.

Alligators have inhabited Florida's marshes, swamps, rivers, canals, retention ponds, and lakes for centuries and are found in all 67 counties, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. When walking your dogs, please keep them leashed and away from the water, especially at dawn and dusk, when alligators are most active.

Wildlife experts advise keeping dogs at least 15 to 20 feet away from water's edge. Do not let your dogs swim in freshwater, lakes, ponds, or marshes. Never let your dogs drink from these bodies of water. Watch your surroundings and assume that any body of freshwater in Florida, including neighborhood retention ponds, has an alligator.

Small dogs look like prey animals to an alligator. However, any dog of any size near the water is in danger if an alligator is nearby. Also, you may not think to find an alligator in saltwater. However, after a rainstorm, freshwater sits on top of saltwater and may attract an alligator. Please be aware.

UPDATE: Mercy Full Project stepped forward to help Zombie! Thanks Be to God!!!
And thank you to all of you who shared this post. ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️

Zombie needs your help!!!
If you have been to a People & Pets Ministry event, you may well recognize her. Her pet parent was a long-time volunteer.
Zombie is 12 years old. She has had a loving home, but now has no one available to care for her. She has a place to stay, but only for the next day or two. So the need is URGENT!
Can you help? Can you provide a foster home for her for several months or more? Do you know someone who can?
She is 12 years old, in good health, up to date on vaccinations.
A volunteer has offered to cover ALL Zombie’s expenses — food, vet, etc.
She just needs a home … and love.
If you can help, please reply to this post.
Thank you!!❤️🐾❤️
