The Taloga Area Cross Project
Greetings friends and neighbors,
We would like to take this opportunity to tell you about the Taloga Area Cross Project. Currently, wheels are in motion to construct a large Cross in the Taloga Area. The idea was recently brought to light by Kenny Gore and Gary Borden. These two neighbors have envisioned a Cross that would serve as a constant visual reminder for the community and those driving through Taloga, of the sacrifice of Christ and the hope of salvation. A spiritual landmark that when people see it will reflect on the fact that Jesus died for our sins. It would function as a public symbol that the message of Christ and the Christian faith have a visible presence in our community.
Kenny and Gary recently shared their vision during a Taloga Area Ministerial Alliance (TAMA) meeting. And they shared their desire for this Cross to become a reality. Everyone at the (TAMA) meeting wholeheartedly supported and indorsed the Taloga Area Cross Project.
Recently, Kenny, Bill Kimball and Ron Davis went on a road trip (fact finding mission) and looked at several Crosses. They traveled to Cloe Springs Oklahoma, Nash Oklahoma, Medford Oklahoma and to the Cherokee Trading Post on Interstate 40. While on this trip they also visited with a contractor who has constructed several Crosses throughout the state of Oklahoma. This wonderful vision is becoming clearer each day.
We would like to ask for your prayers as the planning and logistics are coming together. The specifics of the Taloga Area Cross Project are still unfolding; however, we want to make our community aware. The door is open to anyone who might want to help financially or with construction materials. Donation boxes decorated with hand drawn artwork from some of our local youngsters will soon be in various locations in town and an account for donations has been established at Great Plains Bank in Taloga.
Also, there is a thermometer that is already up outside The Western Medical office to gauge the financial goals of this project. There will be updates as The Taloga Area Cross Projects develops.
