Preparation of the Heart

Bro. Tony challenged us to examine our hearts and consider the condition of our spiritual life.

In the natural world, there are people living with failing hearts. If they qualify, they may be placed on a transplant list, waiting for a donor heart. Many factors determine whether they receive that life-saving gift, and ultimately, someone must give their life for another to live.

What a powerful picture of what Jesus did for us.

Because of His death, we can receive a new heart and new life. What we could never earn ourselves was made possible through His sacrifice.

After a heart transplant, patients must take anti-rejection medication to prevent their body from rejecting the new heart. Spiritually, we face a similar battle. Our flesh naturally resists the work of God. It promotes self-reliance, pride, and independence from Him.

📖 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good…” — Luke 6:45 (KJV)

📖 Proverbs 16 reminds us that while man may plan his ways, it is the Lord who weighs the heart.

If we are not careful, our flesh will reject what God is trying to do within us. That’s why we must daily humble ourselves, seek His presence, and submit to His Word.

Our spiritual “anti-rejection medicine” is found through prayer, repentance, humility, and a continual dependence on Jesus.

A neglected heart grows weak. A surrendered heart grows stronger.

🫀 Check your heart.
🫀 Guard your heart.
🫀 Prepare your heart for what God wants to do.

The health of our spiritual heart determines the direction of our spiritual life.

📖 Sunday School Recap: Why Do We Fear?

Fear is one of the most common human experiences. The Bible speaks about fear often—not to shame us, but to encourage us and point us back to God.

As humans, we cannot control everything around us. Uncertainty often creates fear. But when fear creeps into our minds, it can block our confidence and trust in God.

📖 “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” — Psalm 56:3 (KJV)

God invites us to cast our fears on Him and trust that His way is always best.

We looked at Elijah in 1 Kings 19:1-8. After a great victory, fear overwhelmed him. Yet God met him in his weakness, providing rest, nourishment, and strength for the journey ahead. What fear had drained, God restored.

The enemy often tries to use our past, our failures, and our uncertainties to keep us trapped in fear. But God’s Word reminds us:

📖 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Peter also experienced fear when he took his eyes off Jesus while walking on the water.

📖 “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid…” — Matthew 14:30 (KJV)

When Peter focused on the storm, fear took over. When we focus on Jesus, fear loses its power.

Fear is not meant to drive us away from God—it is meant to draw us closer to Him. Fear can deepen our prayer life, strengthen our faith, and teach us greater dependence on God.

✨ God does not waste our fear. He uses it for spiritual growth.

Sunday Sermon Recap

Bro. Tony preached a challenging message titled: “We Are Called.”

He opened with a simple picture most people know—“Where’s Waldo?”
Some say it’s hard to find Waldo… and in the same way, some say it’s hard to find the calling of God. But the truth is, it often depends on where we’re looking.

The world searches for meaning, purpose, and direction in so many places. But how different would things be if people searched for Jesus with the same intensity they search for answers, distractions, or even something as simple as Waldo?

We all have a calling. God didn’t save us just for comfort or routine—He saved us for purpose. And just because we’ve served Him for years doesn’t mean He doesn’t have something new for us right now.

Everything we do in life—our activities, achievements, and possessions—loses its weight if it’s disconnected from obedience to God.

📖 Romans 8:24–27 reminds us that hope and purpose are found in God’s Spirit working within us, even when we don’t have all the answers.

Instead of asking, “What do I want to do with my life?” the real question becomes:
“Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Many of the Bible’s most powerful writings came from people walking through unimaginable trials—but their focus stayed on God and His calling, and their lives still spoke hope to generations.

People everywhere are really searching for two things: love and purpose.
And God’s calling often begins in simple obedience—a phone call, a word of encouragement, a visit, a prayer. Small steps of obedience can become something far greater in His hands.

📖 Ephesians 4:1–4 calls us to walk worthy of our calling, united in humility, love, and purpose.

We are no longer searching for Waldo.
We are searching for Jesus—His will, His purpose, and His calling for our lives.

Sunday School Recap 🍎📖

Bro. Tyler taught a powerful lesson on this question:

Do you want to be known as a Christian by your words alone, or by people seeing Christ in you?

True Christianity is revealed when our words and actions agree. The Bible repeatedly warns against a faith that is only spoken but never lived. Words alone cannot prove a changed heart.

📖 Matthew 15:8 KJV
📖 James 1:22 KJV

It’s easy to look good on the surface, but God is concerned with what’s underneath. When we focus on allowing God to change the inward man, that transformation will naturally be reflected outwardly.

A changed heart will always produce visible fruit.

Think of an apple tree: an apple may look beautiful on the outside, but one bite can reveal what’s really inside. In the same way, our true spiritual condition is eventually revealed.

📖 Matthew 7:20 KJV — “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

The world is watching. People may never read a Bible, but they are reading our lives every day. We are living epistles that reflect Christ to those around us.

📖 2 Corinthians 3:2 KJV

The challenge for us today: Don’t settle for a Christianity that is only spoken. Seek a genuine relationship with Christ that changes you from the inside out. When the heart is changed, the fruit will follow.

Faith and Its Importance

“What do we truly have if we don’t have faith?” — Nothing.

📖 Hebrews 11:6 KJV reminds us that without faith it is impossible to please God.

Faith changes everything. With faith, impossible things become possible. We often place our comfort and trust in people, businesses, organizations, or even churches—but all of those can fail. God never fails.

📖 Hebrews 11:1 KJV
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Job endured trial after trial, yet he never lost his trust in God. His circumstances changed, but his faith stayed firm.

📖 James 2:14-26 KJV teaches us that faith without works is dead. Faith requires action. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus—serving with humility, not pride or recognition.

Abraham, the Father of Faith, trusted God completely when it came to Isaac. Even when he didn’t understand, he believed God would keep His promise.

📖 Ephesians 2:8 KJV
“For by grace are ye saved through faith…”

Faith is more than words.
Faith is trusting God when you cannot see the outcome.
Faith is obedience even in uncertainty.
Faith is believing God cannot fail. 🙌

Sunday School Recap ✨

We don’t have to stay trapped.

So many Christians stay trapped mentally, emotionally, and spiritually even though God has already provided a way out. Sometimes we become comfortable in the place we’re in, afraid to step out into what God has for us.

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7 KJV

God’s freedom is not just a future promise — it’s a present reality. Freedom through Christ is already available. It’s not something we can earn through works. God freely provides it through His grace.

When you walk in freedom with Christ, it changes your everyday life.

David was only a shepherd boy, but he trusted God completely. He had confidence that God would come through for him. Many believers accept freedom in some areas while still holding on to bo***ge in others.

Exodus 14 reminds us that God always provides a way out. Yet just like the Israelites, we often forget what God has already done and allow fear to override our faith.

Freedom in Christ requires:
• Trust
• Change
• Stepping into the unknown

Today, choose the freedom God offers. Surrender to Him. The door is open. You do not have to live in captivity any longer.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
