Advent participated in A FULL SUMMER this past Saturday - and here's the thank you!
Dear A FULL SUMMER Friends,
Our 14th year is in the books, and it was a BIG one! It couldn't happen without you, so before we get to our results, we want to thank you for your support. Whether you volunteered at the Snack Pack and/or donated, we are grateful. We also want to thank our partners at Godby High School, Second Harvest of the Big Bend, and Leon County Schools. Thank you ALL!
This year, over 270 volunteers gathered for one purpose: to help our local food-insecure children. And we did! 27 teams packed 9,000 bags of snacks at our Snack Pack held in Godby's cafeteria. Second Harvest of the Big Bend took our bags of snacks to their warehouse and will distribute them all summer to sites that serve food-insecure children.
We raised $49,133.16! That's a record! With these funds, we purchased 3 refrigerators, 2 freezers, 13 utility carts, shelving, and other equipment for Leon County School markets. We paid for the snack materials we packed last Saturday; we are underwriting the monitoring fee for the Hope 24/7 Grocery Locker at Sabal Palm Elementary School for another year, and we are donating almost $17,000 to Leon County School markets so children will have access to nutritional food year-round.
A FULL SUMMER isn't just the name of a yearly event. It's a community of people who care about and love our youngest neighbors who struggle with hunger. Thank you all for being a member of this special community. Together, we are doing something about local childhood food insecurity. No child should go hungry!
Our next Snack Pack will be June 5, 2027. We can't wait to see you there!
Sincerely,
