Today we continued the organization of our local congregation by appointing men to another office described in the New Testament. David Hinton, Jeff Harwell, and Michael Norford were appointed as Deacons to serve the Congregation here and assist the Elders in tasks set by them for the benefit of the Congregation and the Lord’s work here.

It is indeed a great blessing to have a congregation organized in the way that the Lord intends with the goal always in mind to glorify him and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

If you’re in the area we hope to see you at our evening worship at 5pm to worship God.

Monday’s verses of the day

Matthew 12:15-21

15 But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. 16 Yet He warned them not to make Him known, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

18 “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
19 He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
21 And in His name Gentiles will trust.”

Thursday’s verses of the day

Matthew 12:9-14

9 Now when He had departed from there, He went into their synagogue. 10 And behold, there was a man who had a withered hand. And they asked Him, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”—that they might accuse Him.

11 Then He said to them, “What man is there among you who has one sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.” 13 Then He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other. 14 Then the Pharisees went out and plotted against Him, how they might destroy Him.

Wednesday’s verses of the day.

Psalm 36:1-6

An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked:
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
3 The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4 He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
5 Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.

We are happy to be able to support not only faithful preachers spreading the Gospel in lands foreign to us, but to also be able to support the brethren there when needed is a great blessing. Christians in Zimbabwe have been able to grow their own corn for harvest this year thanks to good rains but needed some assistance until the crops dried enough for food. Below is an excerpt from Robert Chinyenze, who we support, regarding their situation and the relief provided.

“I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the food assistance you provided to the brethren. Your kindness and generosity have come as a blessing to us during a challenging time. The cloudy weather had indeed slowed down our maize drying process, but your support has lifted the burden off our shoulders.We appreciate your willingness to lend a helping hand, and we're grateful for your trust in God's providence. Your contribution has made a tangible difference in our lives, and we're encouraged to know that we have brethren like you who care about our well-being.Your support has not only met our immediate needs but has also inspired us to continue trusting in God's goodness. We pray that your kindness will motivate you to continue blessing others in need, and we're grateful for your partnership in this journey.”

It can often be difficult for those of us who live in the US to remember that there are places in which food can be scarce and drought common; that there are places in which Christians are still persecuted for following Christ. Despite this, Christ is still being taught to those who have never heard the Gospel. We are happy to support sound men to share the good news and happier still to support brothers and sisters in their time of need.

Please keep these brethren in your prayers and praise be to God for the harvest that he has blessed them with!

Tuesday’s verses of the day

Matthew 12:1-9

1 That day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting by the sea. 2 And large crowds gathered to Him, so He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd was standing on the beach.

3 And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.”

Monday’s verses of the day

Psalm 35:17-25

17 Lord, how long will You look on?
Rescue me from their destructions,
My precious life from the lions.
18 I will give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will praise You among [h]many people.
19 Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;
Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.
20 For they do not speak peace,
But they devise deceitful matters
Against the quiet ones in the land.
21 They also opened their mouth wide against me,
And said, “Aha, aha!
Our eyes have seen it.”
22 This You have seen, O Lord;
Do not keep silence.
O Lord, do not be far from me.
23 Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication,
To my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness;
And let them not rejoice over me.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!”
Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.”

Thursday’s verses of the day.

Matthew 12:46-50

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”

48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

Wednesday’s versus of the day

Psalm 35:8-16

9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
10 All my bones shall say,
“Lord, who is like You,
Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?”
11 Fierce witnesses rise up;
They ask me things that I do not know.
12 They reward me evil for good,
To the sorrow of my soul.
13 But as for me, when they were sick,
My clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled myself with fasting;
And my prayer would return to my own heart.
14 I paced about as though he were my friend or brother;
I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.
15 But in my adversity they rejoiced
And gathered together;
Attackers gathered against me,
And I did not know it;
They tore at me and did not cease;
16 With ungodly mockers at feasts
They gnashed at me with their teeth.
