When we are baptized we enter into a covenant relationship with our heavenly father. A covenant is a two way promise. We promise to God that we will take upon us the name of Christ, keep His commandments, serve God and others, and enduring to the end by always remembering him.

God also promises us forgiveness of our sins, the constant companionship of the holy ghost, and eternal life!

The Word of Wisdom is one of the most commonly misunderstood aspects of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! But it's actually pretty simple, and AWESOME!

Since the beginning of humanity, God has given us guidelines for what we should and shouldn't put into our bodies (Genesis 2:7.) And we know that everything God does is for our good, as He has said, "For behold, this is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." (Moses 1:39.)

That's why the Word of Wisdom is awesome! It's additional knowledge on how the Lord would like us to care for, and nurture our bodies.

And so, while we may sometimes be frustrated by the limitations God has asked us to exercise, it's important to remember that He loves us SO much (John 3:16) and He just wants us to live the healthiest, happiest lives we can.

God created us in his image, meaning that he has a body of flesh and bones, just like we do! It is very important to take care of our bodies, the precious gift that he has given us.

When we obey His commandments, we can become more like Him and live up to His image.
