Our loving, merciful, gracious Father in heaven, we are just so thankful that we are alive this morning, in our right minds to be able to acknowledge you as our Father.

We are so thankful that we understand that Jesus, your only begotten Son, sacrificed his life for us. We are amazed that he would leave heaven and come to earth and go toe to toe with the devil and live a perfect life and pay the penalty for our sins. We cannot even begin to express the depth of our gratitude for the Holy Spirit who leads us and guides us and teaches us about Jesus, who brings to our remembrance what Jesus taught.

And so, Lord, today, please help our faces to be notified by our hearts and our minds that we are your children. That you love us, you care for us. Nothing is going to happen to us today that you are not able to handle. You're not caught by surprise and it wasn't something that wasn't on your to-do list.

What an amazing father you are and we just want to say hallelujah, hallelujah. Praise your holy name. And in Jesus' name, we say thank you. And I know that by giving you praise and thanksgiving, it will truly help us on our journeys to understand how to live the balanced life. Be blessed.

Ever feel stuck in your prayer life? Here are three simple ways to draw closer to God:

1. Make Space
Choose a regular time each day to be with God. Just as time with loved ones strengthens relationships, consistent prayer helps deepen your connection with Him.

2. Speak Honestly
Talk to God like a close friend. Share your joys, worries, decisions, frustrations, and small moments with Him. Bring your whole heart into the conversation.

3. Let His Word Lead You
Begin your prayer time with a Bible verse to focus your heart and mind. Let Scripture guide the conversation. Ex. Psalm 55:22: Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

May I make a confession?

I've never really thought of myself as being selfish, but I don't like being inconvenienced. And when helping another person cuts across my comfort zone, well, there's a pause and a moment. I don't ask, “How much can I help them?” but, “How much does it disrupt my comfort zone?”

And just like God, He will send situations into my space and yours for us to check the bloodline. Is selfishness the first cousin of inconvenience?

For real, when was the last time you did something for someone else that inconvenienced you?

Kindness isn't necessarily a big thing, except for the person who received it. When did you last show patience? Like when the crying child would not stop crying and the mother was frustrated? Or what about taking the time to speak to the homeless person? Or our shuttle driver from the airport to your car in the parking lot? That phone call that needs to be made, but the timing isn't right, nor will it ever be exactly right.

Today, I want to check my selfishness at the door and look for ways to be inconvenienced. It will really help me on my journey to understanding how to live the balanced life, and I'm confident it will also be helpful for you.

Be blessed!

Just a short while ago, a dear friend faced a serious attack on her professional career. When she shared the situation with her teenaged daughter, without skipping a beat, she said, “The devil whispers; God talks.”

Not only is that a profound spiritual insight by a youth, but it also causes us to think differently about how God responds to the challenges in our lives.

Many of us have limited God ‘s responses to our cries for help as waiting to hear His “still small voice.”

Not necessarily so!

God’s answer to Hannah’s heartfelt plea for a son was a crying lad, Samuel. The same outcome for Sarah, Rebekah, and Rachel.

When the children of Israel marched around the walls of Jericho—Rahab, even if she had tried, couldn’t have miss hearing the steady drumbeat of millions of feet nor the sound of seven rams' horns trumpets blowing.

But, one of my favorite examples of God speaking to us is when Mary Magdalene sobbed at the tomb.

Jesus He did not whisper to her.

No, He engaged her in a very out loud conversation: “Woman,” He asked, “Why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?"

After she realized it was Him, He told her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God' " (John 20:11-18 NKJV Bible).

May I encourage you on your journey to understanding how to live THE balanced life to hear Jesus’ voice over the storms in your life, distinctly saying, “Peace be still.”
