The Summer Psalm Sing is upon us! What is a Psalm Sing?

At a Psalm Sing, we gather at All Saints Anglican Church--where we meet on Sundays--and split the evening into two parts.

First, we enjoy the fellowship of the saints over dinner and the children enjoy the yard and playground out back.

Second, we fill up our bellies, we will fill up our hearts by singing some wonderful hymns and psalms together in the sanctuary.

After we finish up, we will inevitably laugh and talk together for a while before heading home. You get to enter into the Lord's Day with the joy of the Lord from the night before.

Come and join us! You will not regret it.

"Jacob provides an insightful example for leadership. He looks at those under his care and understands their ability and then accommodates them, refusing to push them beyond their limits. This is helpful for us parents and for pastors and leaders in any other area. I recently made a post about how idealism can destroy what is real. In other words, we have a standard of perfection before our eyes–a perfect wife, a perfect church, a perfect husband, a perfect child, a perfect job–and we must be careful not to let this ideal in our minds lead to bitterness and anger as real life does not match up. One of the quickest ways to get frustrated with others in your lives is to hold them to a perfect standard. God’s standards are perfect and God calls us to perfect, yet he leads us as Jacob led his household. Softly, according as we are able to endure. Take up this example. Have goals. Have standards. Use these to give you something to work toward, but do not drive your flocks into the ground, as it were. Doing so will lead to death. Your children cannot make you happy, if you demand perfection and extend no grace. Demand perfection, being quick to forgive and cover over wrongs. Have goals and be patient."

Psalm Sings are the very best of what we do at Christ the King. Come out and see what God is doing in our midst. We will enjoy a wonderful feast prepared by our incredible women, enjoy each other's company while the children play outside, and then we will sing some rich Psalms and hymns together to the glory of God. If you have never been to one of these, make this one your first. They are open to our brothers and sisters from other churches in the area as well.

At Presbytery last week, we were blessed to graduate from Mission Church status into full voting membership in the Athanasius Presbytery. We have been blessed beyond measure to have worked alongside several other sessions over the last 3.5 years as our church has grown. There are too many to thank, but we are glad to celebrate this new phase in the life of our church and looking forward to a fruitful harvest.

This past Lord's Day we were blessed to have Bradley Donaldson ordained as an elder of Christ the King. He has served us for several years and we are glad to have him join the session.

Another opportunity to gather with the saints, laugh, play, eat, drink, and sing together. Bring the kids, an appetite, some friends, and your loudest singing voice.

The event will, as always, be held at All Saints where we also meet each Lord's Day. We look forward to being with you all!
