Uhhh what a year it was for FSU Kiteboard Association and
CKA - Collegiate Kiteboarding Association.

After some baby steps in 2012-2013 this year has brought us a full blown set of events.
We started of in the fall with Collegiate Kite Series tour stop #1 at St. Peterburg, FL. With the NW wind at 20+ rolling by, it turned out to be a beautiful Competition/Session. Afterwards, riding with and watching some big loops from Billy Parker was very inspiring and intimidating.

Second event took place at the 520 Slick spot in Cocoa beach. Beautiful place, butter flat water, and a wind on the weak side. It was a contest of efficiency and massive kites. FSU Kite Team was a bit disadvantaged with our set of strong wind kites and an old 14m that was falling apart, but fortunately Stan The Man came through allowing us to use his brand new BEST Kiteboarding 17m TS, and I have to say, this thing pulls!!!

All of this has lead to the East Coast Regional Championship at BeachnBoardfest put together by Ron Jon Surf Shop. With the wind steadily picking up from 10am we were bound to have a awesome day. Throughout the day the wind only got stronger and we ended up the day watching some hugely entertaining loops from the advanced division riders, and even trying some new stuff on our own. Also watching Chris Bobryk and Damien LeRoy ride was well worth the 6h drive to Cocoa.

All of that madness resulted with FSU being ranked #2 in the Collegiate Kiteboarding Association East Coast tour (right behind FAU Kiteboarding Association, but these guys are insane), putting 5 riders in the top 15, and securing an invitation to the CKA Nationals. With the event scheduled to take place on Hatteras island NC, over the week May 21 - 29 (right before Tripple S) FSU Kite needed some financial assistance to be able to participate. This is when FSU Sport Club Office came through awarding us with the additional $750 of travel founds.

What is better than a trip to CKA Nationals and Tripple S? A free trip to CKA Nationals and Tripple S!!!!!!
