God will not instruct us to do anything that He is not going to empower us to be able to do. We are weak; we are flawed; He is not. We put so many limitations on our flesh and abilities that we doubt the capabilities of our God. We cannot through our power, this is why He instructs us to rely on His. How do we rely on God? We start by believing He can. How can God give us something we do not believe in? We must believe it in order to receive it. So, when we read scriptures like Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect,” we automatically say, “No one is perfect.” I have made this statement several times myself, but I have never read this in the Bible, have you? As a matter of fact, there are several people in the Bible that God calls perfect. Google it. The Bible teaches that all are sinners, so what does it mean to ‘be perfect’? What is the difference between sin and perfection? This short inspiration is not designed to go into detail, but I will give you an overview. God is a spirit, and He is concerned about the spirit of His people. Do a study on perfection in the Bible and you will see each instance is surrounded with works of the spirit. When we say “no one is perfect,” we are referencing the fleshly side of man. Perfection is not possible in the flesh. But is it possible in the Spirit? The spirit is given and developed by God. So can God perfect His spirit that He places inside of us? It cannot be if we do not believe He can. We have to believe in Him in order for us to allow Him to work on us. Something to meditate on, isn’t it? So instead of saying there is something I cannot do, I ask God, how do I become what He is instructing me to become? I am not there yet, but I will not limit God when He tells me I can do all things through Him. I believe, Do you?
